◆Introduction Shikanoshima island is a small island that can be accessed in just 30 minutes from central Fukuoka. The townscape and lifestyle of the old fishing village still remains. It once played an important role as a key point for maritime trade. Many of the rituals held at Shikaumi Shrine, which has played an important role in the culture and history of this island, are rare even in Japan. In recent years, it has become a cycling spot loved by local Fukuoka cyclists as it allows you to tour around the coastline. On this tour, you will be accompanied by a guide who will introduce you to the Japanese view of nature and the lifestyle and traditions of fishing towns while enjoying the spectacular natural scenery.

◆Itinerary ・Shikashima Cycle (20min) This is the starting point for the tour. This is the base for Shikanoshima cycling. You can rent various types of bicycles. Start cycling after receiving a basic lecture from the guide.

・Shikanoshima Island (10min) Tour small fishing villages and experience the history of the island and the life of a fishing village.

・Shikaumi Shrine (30min) The unique culture of Shikanoshima Island has been nurtured through the rituals and festivals of Shikaumi Shrine. Our guide and Shinto priest will give you an overview. You will also learn the basic ways of worshiping, which are common at other shrines.

・Katsuma Beach (30min) There will be a rice ball break. A local beach with high transparency. This is a view point where you can see Hakata Bay and Entrance Sea.

・Shikanoshima Island (1hour) Cycling along the loop road with a guide leading the way. You can enjoy the coastline.
