Hello, this is sekino from the Holiday Travel editorial team. Today I'd like to introduce you to a Shizuoka souvenir I received from a team member.
What I received was called "Bari Katsuo-kun" - a uniquely named snack food. It's a unique snack made with bonito flakes, sold by a manufacturer from Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
Made from Yaizu's specialty bonito flakes and seasoned with ginger soy sauce. The moment I opened the package, I was amazed by the incredible bonito aroma! When I tried it, it had a crispy, light texture with the distinctive savory flavor of bonito flakes that's quite addictive. It's perfect as a snack or appetizer, making a great companion for beer or sake.
It seems to be popular with international visitors to Japan as well, so if you ever have the chance to visit Shizuoka, be sure to try "Bari Katsuo-kun"♪
