Taito Corporation (headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) has released BUBBLE BOBBLE Sugar Dungeons Boosted, the latest entry in its BUBBLE BOBBLE action game series, for Nintendo Switch™ and PlayStation®5 on August 20, 2026. To mark the launch, the digital edition is 15% off through September 1 (Tuesday) on Nintendo Switch and through September 2 (Wednesday) on PlayStation®5.
Owners of the Steam version of Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons can move straight to BUBBLE BOBBLE Sugar Dungeons Boosted through the same day's free major update. The Steam edition is also running a 25% discount to celebrate the update, through 2:00 AM on Thursday, September 3, and a value bundle with Bubble Bobble 4 Friends すかるもんすたとワークショップ is now available as well.
Taito is also running a giveaway to celebrate the launch: fans who post a gameplay screenshot or video on X with the campaign hashtag are entered for a chance to win one of 40 "Bubble Bobble 40th Anniversary Pin Badge Sets."

About BUBBLE BOBBLE Sugar Dungeons Boosted
Adventure again and again, and grow stronger — the series' first step-up Bubble Bobble
Bubblun, the bubble-blowing dragon, sets off on a grand adventure through a wacky dungeon that changes shape every time he steps into it.
Use bubble action to defeat enemies and ride bubbles as footholds while collecting treasure.
Use the treasure you collect to power Bubblun up, learn new skills, and push deeper into the stage.
A giant castle stage called "Castle" also appears, where players explore a maze of connected rooms while charting the map.
The game also includes a port of Bubble Symphony, the home console version originally released in 1997.
With the Nintendo Switch and PS5 releases, Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons, already available on Steam, is also getting a free major update to become BUBBLE BOBBLE Sugar Dungeons Boosted.
Added drop items and significantly higher drop rates "boost" the excitement of dungeon exploration.
When Boblun appears, he can help clear out enemies in one go or skip a floor, making the game more fun and easier to enjoy.
What Is Bubble Bobble?
Bubble Bobble is an arcade action game that Taito released in September 1986. The series turns 40 in 2026. Cursed by a wizard, the boys バビー and ボビー are turned into the bubble-blowing dragons Bubblun and Boblun, and set out to trap the enemies they meet in bubbles and defeat them as they head 100 floors underground to rescue their kidnapped girlfriends.
The lovable characters Bubblun and Boblun made the game a hit, spawning many sequels that have been ported to a wide range of home game consoles. The puzzle game Puzzle Bobble, which uses the same characters, was also a massive hit and became one of the franchise's flagship titles.
