Capsule toy maker Qualia Co., Ltd. is rolling out "Chibi Maruko-chan Plush Toys" (500 yen per play, tax included, five designs total) at capsule toy corners nationwide.
Maruko's Classmates, Reimagined as Soft, Squishy Plush Toys
Marking Qualia's first-ever Chibi Maruko-chan plush toy line, the collection brings Maruko's Class 3-4 friends to life as adorable, huggable plush figures that look like they've jumped straight off the screen. Part of the appeal is their soft, squishy texture that's hard to resist touching.
The lineup covers five characters in total: Maruko, Tamachan, Fujiki, Nagasawa, and Hanawa.
Each character's distinct personality has been carefully preserved, with their signature silhouettes, outfits, and hairstyles faithfully recreated. Facial features are finished with cute embroidery, and fine details — like Maruko's skirt and the hair ties on Tamachan's pigtails — have been carefully crafted.
Each plush comes with a ball chain, so fans can clip their favorite character onto a bag and take them along wherever they go.

About Chibi Maruko-chan
Created by Momoko Sakura, Chibi Maruko-chan is a heartwarming series set in Shimizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture (now Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City), following the everyday life — funny, joyful, and sometimes bittersweet — of Maruko (Momoko Sakura), a third-grade elementary school student and second daughter of the Sakura family, along with her family and friends.
Serialization began in Ribon (Shueisha) in 1986, and the original work marks its 40th anniversary in 2026. All 18 volumes of the original comics are currently available, with cumulative circulation surpassing 35 million copies (including digital editions), and overseas editions published across Asia and in France.
