"ESCAPE.ID," an integrated platform for mystery-solving, escape games, and other experience-based content operated by ESCAPE Inc. (headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo), will begin selling puzzle kits from Friday, July 10, 2026 for "Chiikawa, We're Looking for You: 'Chiikawa the Movie' Tokyo Metro Escape Game," a wide-area, indoor-and-outdoor walking event opening on July 24, 2026.
About "Chiikawa, We're Looking for You: 'Chiikawa the Movie' Tokyo Metro Escape Game"
Timed to coincide with the theatrical release of Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of Mermaid Island (distributed by Toho) on Friday, July 24, 2026, this walking escape game has participants ride the Tokyo Metro between nearby parks and facilities while solving a series of puzzles. After purchasing a puzzle kit, participants follow instructions that appear through the "ESCAPE.ID" app, working through clues one by one to track down Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi, who have all gone missing.
Details from the movie's world are woven throughout the game, so as the puzzles unfold, participants can experience the sense of having wandered into Chiikawa's world on this special adventure to find Chiikawa and friends.
How to Get a Kit
Three ways to obtain a kit are planned. See the official event site for details; sales and exchange locations will be announced there once finalized.
Purchase in Store
Kits can be purchased directly at participating stores. Please note that kits may sell out and go on back order.
Purchase an Exchange Ticket
After purchasing through ESCAPE.ID or another official sales website, this ticket can be exchanged for a kit at a participating redemption location during a set exchange period.
Purchase by Mail Order
After purchasing through ESCAPE.ID, the kit is shipped directly to your home. There is a daily cap on how many kits can be purchased this way.

1. Event Period
Friday, July 24, 2026 to Tuesday, November 3, 2026
On the final day, Tuesday, November 3, the event runs until 8:00 PM.
2. How to Participate
(1) Purchase or exchange for a puzzle kit through the official sales website or at a participating store.
(2) Follow the instructions in the puzzle kit and the official app to head to various Tokyo Metro stations.
(3) Walk through the city, solve the puzzles, and find Chiikawa and friends.
(4) Take on the final challenge waiting after every puzzle is solved — answer correctly to clear the game!
3. What You'll Need
- A smartphone with an internet connection.
- The "ESCAPE.ID" app, which is required to play. For app details and downloads, see: https://esc.id/app
- The smartphone camera will be used during play.
- Make sure your phone battery has enough charge before joining.
- Data/communication charges are the participant's responsibility.
- A Tokyo Metro 24-hour ticket is not included; transportation costs are separate.

One day, while Chiikawa and Hachiware are relaxing in the square, Usagi suddenly turns up with a flyer stuck to its face. When Hachiware checks the flyer, it turns out to be an invitation reading "You're invited to a special island." Lured in by lines like "Earn 100 times the reward for an easy monster hunt on the island" and "Limited island ramen, limited sweets — sweet or spicy, it's all practically free," Chiikawa and friends decide to go on an island retreat. They set sail together with Rakko, who is suspicious of the flyer, and land on the island — but what awaits the group there…!?
