Toei Animation is continuing the story of its 2014 theatrical anime film Expelled from Paradise with a brand-new visual novel. Expelled from Paradise -The Stellar Angel- is set to launch on Nintendo Switch and Steam on November 26, 2026, picking up after the events of the film created by Gen Urobuchi (Nitroplus) and Seiji Mizushima. The Story Is Set in the Desert Town of Svarga — Synopsis Revealed for the First Time
The year is A.D. 2400.
Ever since the Nano Hazard devastated the surface world, 98% of humanity has abandoned their physical bodies to live in the virtual world of DEVA.
A mysterious new life form called Paraflora has suddenly begun growing across the surface world. As its range rapidly expands, giant worms have started appearing around it, attacking people one after another.
The epicenter of the Paraflora outbreak is Svarga, a desert town that became a ghost town after a past epidemic.
At the same time, a DEVA Security Bureau agent who stole Grey Goo, a top-secret file recording data on the Nano Hazard, has fled down to the surface — and their trail, too, leads to Svarga.
Into this desert town, swirling with mystery and conspiracy, several different agendas are now about to collide.

Angela Balzac (CV: Rie Kugimiya)
A former DEVA system security officer. After the Frontier Setter incident, she broke away from DEVA and now lives on the surface as a jack-of-all-trades alongside Dingo.
Dingo / Zarik Kajiwara (CV: Shinichiro Miki)
A surface-dweller who served as an observer for DEVA security personnel. He now moves alongside Angela, who has relocated to the surface.

About Expelled from Paradise
Where did we come from? What are we? Where are we going?
Expelled from Paradise is a work of entertainment that fuses a grand science-fiction vision with striking action. The film was directed by Seiji Mizushima, known for Mobile Suit Gundam 00, with a screenplay by Gen Urobuchi (Nitroplus), known for Puella Magi Madoka Magica. This was the first original theatrical film for both creators working directly together, and it drew attention from many quarters.
The story begins when DEVA, the virtual world where humanity has settled in peace, comes under a mysterious hacking attack. What is the purpose behind the hack? Investigator Angela descends to the ruined surface world, accompanied by the mobile exoskeleton ARHAN.
The staff led by director Mizushima brought the large-scale future vision born from Urobuchi's imagination to life with a distinctive visual sense, including the presence of characters rendered in 3DCG.
The cast — including Rie Kugimiya, Shinichiro Miki, and Hiroshi Kamiya, performers who have long worked with Mizushima — bring the film's very human characters to life. The film opened in theaters on November 15, 2014.
