The hardboiled mystery adventure Fukakutei Sekai no Tantei Shinshi: Agyō Sōma no Jiken File, published by MAGES., is coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 as a download-only title on September 10, 2026. A limited-time launch sale offering roughly 30% off will also run to mark the release.
A Hardboiled Mystery Adventure by Hiroyuki Kanno Returns
Fukakutei Sekai no Tantei Shinshi: Agyō Sōma no Jiken File is the first entry in the "Tantei Shinshi" mystery adventure series created by game creator Hiroyuki Kanno.
The story is set one year before 『ミステリート ～八十神かおるの挑戦～』, released in July 2025, and follows Sōma Agyō, one of the world's top Class A detectives.
The original hardboiled mystery adventure first launched as PC software in 2000, followed by a console version in 2009, and now returns on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
With a colorful cast of characters, a wide array of puzzles, and an unpredictable story, the game follows the sharp-eyed detective Sōma Agyō as he takes on a series of bizarre cases.

Become the Skilled Detective Sōma Agyō and Solve Bizarre Cases
The protagonist, Sōma Agyō, is a detective who belongs to IDLA, an international detective organization. As one of only two Class A license holders in Japan, his reputation draws all manner of requests to his office.
Players take on the role of Sōma Agyō, investigating crime scenes to gather information and evidence, and at times tackling deduction and puzzle-solving, as they uncover the truth behind a string of mysterious cases.

The Mint Mitsurugi Bodyguard Case
A mysterious elderly gentleman named Sōichirō Yonemura brings Agyō an odd request: protect an android that looks exactly like a human. Bewildered by the unprecedented job, Agyō ends up taking in "Mint," and a strange shared life between the two begins.

A Game System Closely Tied to the Story
Investigations make use of the same "Proof Target System" featured in 『ミステリート』. The "Time Limit System" also increases the reward the more efficiently a case is investigated. Rewards can be spent to obtain valuable — if costly — information, and players can check their progress on each case they've taken on. Together, these systems actively draw players into the process of deduction, deepening immersion in the story.

The "Proof Target System" lets players focus on objects on screen one after another, choosing actions such as "Look/Examine," "Talk," or "Take" to advance the investigation. Investigating thoroughly can reveal new objects to focus on. Players search crime scenes inside and out, gathering the information and evidence that lead to solving each case.

Time Limit System
Each request comes with a "desired number of days to solve," and the reward increases or decreases depending on how long the case takes to solve. Time passes as the player moves around town and inside buildings. Keeping track of how a case is progressing and how much time remains, while investigating efficiently, is key.
The time and money on hand are shown in the upper right of the screen. Some characters can only be encountered at certain times.

Gathering Information to Solve Cases
Players pursue cases through a variety of means: organizing information on the PC at the detective office, gathering information over the phone, and buying information from informants. At the information broker, the value of the information obtained depends on the price paid, and whether to buy is left up to the player. The "Field Notes," accessible from the system menu, let players visually track their progress.
Phone numbers obtained during investigation can be put to use back at the office.

Characters
Sōma Agyō
A detective who operates out of an office on the down-and-out backstreet known as "Kuzu-dōri." His office doesn't even have a name, and clients seem to avoid it — but in truth, he is one of only around 30 people in the world with the skill of a Class A detective. The "bad luck" that draws trouble to him is practically a superpower in its own right. Despite hiding both his skill and his name, cases still gather around him. Because he is genuinely a top-tier detective, simply solving the cases that come his way lets him rack up a case count far beyond what's considered normal.
Mint Mitsurugi
An autonomous android known as a "Mei-Droid," whom Sōma Agyō ends up taking in through a chance turn of events. She shares many qualities with a human girl right down to her appearance, but why she resembles a human so closely remains a mystery. Meeting her leads Agyō to reconsider what it means to be human, and what love is. Though almost impossibly pure and otherworldly, Mint possesses more humanity than many humans do.
Maiko Ayagi
A young, gifted lawyer who also runs her own law office. As an IDLA liaison, she shows up at Sōma Agyō's office late at night despite the hour. Though she is naturally rather girlish by nature, she puts on stylish glasses and a miniskirt to approach Agyō with a case. She goes to great lengths — even physically — to get Agyō to investigate the ghost case.
Mayumi Misaragi
A woman who asks Agyō to find her missing husband, Shūichi Misaragi. Having wandered the city searching for him until she was worn out in body and mind, she even sought help from the "Happy Detective Agency," known for solving many difficult cases — only to be turned away there as well. Seemingly too despairing to even keep living, her last hope is Agyō, the detective of Kuzu-dōri.
Ash
An information broker who tends bar at the shot bar "Jipure." Buying and selling information takes place at Jipure, which is open from evening until late at night.
Sōichirō Yonemura
An elderly gentleman who claims to be Mint's butler. With movements too refined for an ordinary person and an easygoing way of speaking, he offers Sōma Agyō various pieces of advice.
Wendin Lee
A clerk at an antiquarian bookshop in Chinatown, whom Sōma Agyō meets while trying to buy a rare book known as the "Erasmus Bible."
Shin
A boy Agyō meets when he goes to the antiquarian bookshop in Chinatown to buy the Erasmus Bible. He claims to be the book's rightful owner...
