Bandai Namco Filmworks is releasing "Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play Blu-ray BOX" (Special Limited Edition), an A-on STORE exclusive, on August 26, 2026. The release marks the first-ever Blu-ray edition of the TV series and OVA series, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the anime's TV broadcast. It is priced at ¥33,000 (tax included).
About "Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play Blu-ray BOX"
The set collects the complete Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play TV series (52 episodes) together with the original video series Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play (3 episodes) and Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play Part 2 (6 episodes) across 3 Blu-ray discs.
As a new audio bonus, two episodes feature newly recorded audio commentary with cast members Kae Araki (voice of 夕城美朱), Yumi Toma (voice of 本郷唯), Hikaru Midorikawa (voice of 鬼宿), and Chika Sakamoto (voice of 柳宿).
The bonus disc also reissues video extras from previously released products, including a music video collection (16 tracks), 『ふしぎ遊戯おつかれ慰安バス旅行～禁断の女誠温泉篇』 parts 1 to 3, and 『心宿しっかりしなさい！』, while the main-story discs include the short parody anime 『ふしぎ悪戯』 as a video extra. Illustration cards and a special booklet are also included.
The package uses a tri-fold case featuring an illustration newly drawn by original creator Yuu Watase, paired with a digi-jacket featuring an illustration newly drawn by Studio Pierrot.
Story
Two ninth-graders preparing for their high school entrance exams, 夕城美朱 and 本郷唯, discover an old book called 『四神天地書』 at the library one day. When they open it, they are pulled inside — and find themselves in another world. As armed men suddenly attack the two, who have wandered into this unfamiliar realm—
At that moment, a boy bearing the kanji for "oni" (鬼) on his forehead appears: 鬼宿.

To celebrate the release, a "Blu-ray BOX Release Commemoration Event" featuring Hikaru Midorikawa (voice of 鬼宿) and Tomokazu Seki (voice of 井宿) has been confirmed for Saturday, November 21, 2026. Customers who purchase the Blu-ray BOX through A-on STORE by 11:59 PM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, will receive a serial code to apply for the event. Winners will be chosen by lottery among applicants during the entry period (Wednesday, October 7 to Wednesday, October 14, 2026, 11:59 PM) and will receive a free invitation.

About Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play
The series is an anime adaptation of Yuu Watase's otherworldly fantasy manga, originally serialized in Shogakukan's "Shōjo Comic" (now "Sho-Comi"). The TV anime aired all 52 episodes from April 1995 to March 1996. Building on its popularity, an original video series with a story not found in the manga, "Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play," was produced in 3 episodes in 1996. A further original video series, "Fushigi Yugi: The Mysterious Play Part 2," covering material corresponding to volumes 14 through 18 of the manga and revealing the pasts of the seven star warriors, was produced in 6 episodes from 1997 to 1998.
