Winter in Hakone is enveloped in silence. The frost-covered pampas grass in Sengokuhara shimmers silver, creating a fantastical and serene atmosphere. In the clear air, the free space "free bird & terrace" offers programs to warm up in a traditional Japanese kotatsu, bonfire experiences, and calligraphy experiences in the new year, providing seasonal activities. Additionally, programs that stimulate the five senses are proposed throughout various locations including guest rooms, the cafe lounge, and the Japanese house "Tawaraishi-kaku." Guests can spend time surrendering to comfortable sensations.
Free Bird & Terrace (Free Space)
Kotatsu – Until February 28, 2026 (Saturday)
A kotatsu, a winter tradition, is set up indoors, transforming "empty time during your stay" into warm moments – such as the time between check-in and dinner or the relaxing time after dinner. Breathe deeply as if in the forest and relax.
Bonfire Experience – January 5, 2026 (Monday) to February 28, 2026 (Saturday) / 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM
Going outside before dusk to spend time surrounded by the air and sounds of the forest is also a retreat-like experience. Enjoy the fragrant bonfire experience of making sweet potatoes into bonfire sweet potatoes and roasted marshmallows on the terrace surrounded by trees. Please spend a leisurely time with fruit tea.
Calligraphy Experience – January 1, 2026 (Thursday) to January 2, 2026 (Friday) / 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
An activity where guests staying during the New Year can experience calligraphy, appropriate for the New Year's season. How about writing words expressing aspirations, goals, health, and happiness for the year through calligraphy and starting the year differently than usual?

Monaka Experience at Japanese House "Tawaraishi-kaku"
Experience making traditional Japanese confectionery monaka by hand at the historic "Tawaraishi-kaku" sukiya-style Japanese house. Create your own monaka by combining monaka wafers with several types of bean paste and winter fruits. Recommended for those who want to experience the moment of "creating with their hands" Japanese culture while feeling the beauty of Japanese architecture and space, and for guests from overseas.
