The TV anime adaptation of Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen, based on the manga by Hiroshi Shiibashi serialized in Shueisha's Ultra Jump, has revealed several key details ahead of its premiere — including its broadcast schedule, opening and ending theme artists, and additional characters with cast announcements.
The manga originally appeared as a one-shot in Shonen Jump+ on March 30, 2020, before beginning serialization in Ultra Jump from March 2021. Set in 1910s Japan, the story follows Iwamoto Kodo, a third-year student at the army-affiliated Suiho Middle School, who is tasked by military orders with investigating paranormal phenomena across Japan and recommending individuals with special abilities to the school. The story weaves together various supernatural encounters and the human connections between Iwamoto and the ability users he meets along the way.
Broadcast Schedule
The anime premieres on July 4, 2026 (Saturday), airing on the following channels:
- TOKYO MX: Starting July 4, every Saturday at 10:30 PM
- Sun TV: Starting July 4, every Saturday at 11:00 PM
Opening Theme: THE JET BOY BANGERZ — "BUDDING"

Label: Sony Music Labels Inc.
Lyrics: Saori Kodama
Composition: Kengo Minamida (agehasprings Party)
THE JET BOY BANGERZ is a 10-member dance and vocal group born from iCON Z Dreams For Children, LDH's largest-ever audition with 4.8 million applicants. The group debuted on August 23, 2023 with the single "Jettin'." Their name reflects the concept of "diverse personalities gathering and burning like a jet engine." Seven members are professional D.LEAGUE dancers, and the lineup also includes vocalists from chorus group DEEP SQUAD. Since their debut, the group's EP PHOTOGENIC topped the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking, and their first album JET BOY reached No. 1 on the daily ranking, establishing them as a rapidly growing performance group.
Comment from THE JET BOY BANGERZ:
"We are very honored to be handling the OP theme for Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen. The unique world of this story — set in 1910s Japan, where the protagonist Iwamoto supports people with supernatural abilities while growing alongside his peers as a senior at school — is captivating, and we're grateful to be involved through music. We poured our hearts into this song hoping to convey the work's appeal to as many people as possible. We'd love for you to listen to our music alongside the series."
Ending Theme: WOLF HOWL HARMONY — "Koko ni Iru"

Label: rhythm zone
Words and Music: ☆Taku Takahashi
WOLF HOWL HARMONY is a four-member vocal and rap group consisting of GHEE and HIROTO — finalists of iCON Z Dreams For Children — alongside RYOJI and SUZUKI, who joined from iCON Z's second chapter and are also active as chorus group DEEP SQUAD. The group name was inspired by "members gathering fatefully, like lone wolves with overlapping life stories and a sense of melancholy." Beyond Japan, the group has been active in Thailand since last year and received the Best Boy Group award at the international entertainment and culture event "ASIA TOP AWARDS" in July 2025. Their NEW EP tera, released on March 12, 2026, topped the Oricon Daily Album Ranking, and their total streaming count has surpassed 65 million plays.
Comment from WOLF HOWL HARMONY:
"We are very honored to be in charge of the ending theme for Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen. We thought carefully about how this song could accompany the story — the shifting emotions of the characters, the process of self-acceptance, and the warmth of Iwamoto-senpai — and poured those feelings into the vocals. We hope that as this ending theme plays, it will carry the lingering afterglow of the story and offer viewers something new. We hope you enjoy 'Koko ni Iru' alongside the series through to the very end."
Additional Characters and Cast
Two new characters have been revealed for the series.

Sasame Ryuu (CV: Hajime Sato)
A second-year student at Suiho Middle School. He always carries an umbrella, and somehow rain falls wherever he goes — indoors or out. Sensitive to air and humidity, he has a gentle and soft-spoken manner.

Hajime Sato (as Sasame Ryuu)
Comment from Hajime Sato:
"I'm Hajime Sato, playing Sasame Ryuu. This work has a somewhat mysterious quality while also letting you feel the Meiji and Taisho era — a time when values close to the modern day were beginning to emerge — through its characters. Sasame is a very loyal person: graceful and composed, yet sincerely wanting to help Iwamoto-senpai out of genuine gratitude. I took on the challenge with approaches I hadn't tried before, in order to bring out his charm as fully as possible. I think that once you've finished watching, every time it rains you might find yourself thinking of him. Please enjoy Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen to the end!"

Tankaku Mizuhi (CV: Shinnosuke Tokudome)
A first-year student at Suiho Middle School. He has a deep love for Japanese dolls, with his four favorites named Ichimi, Futaba, Mie, and Shiki. He has an endearing, easygoing personality and tends to go at his own pace.

Shinnosuke Tokudome (as Tankaku Mizuhi)
Comment from Shinnosuke Tokudome:
"I'm Shinnosuke Tokudome, cast as Tankaku Mizuhi. I'm a big fan of the mysterious, beautiful, and slightly eerie world drawn by Hiroshi Shiibashi, so I'm incredibly happy to be involved. Tankaku has his own easygoing side, but he's also a wonderful character who cherishes the things he loves — and playing him has made me love him too. There are plenty of other fascinating characters in this series as well, so look forward to them!"
