About JERA Kawasaki Thermal Power Plant

Kawasaki Thermal Power Plant was established in 1961 as a coal-fired power plant. Since then, in consideration of evolving environmental concerns in the community, the facility has undergone fuel conversions from coal to naphtha to LNG, actively incorporating the latest technologies of each era to supply electricity to the Tokyo metropolitan area and the Keihin Industrial Zone. Currently, it operates as a state-of-the-art LNG thermal power plant boasting world-class performance. The plant supplies some of the steam used in its steam turbines to neighboring factories, contributing to CO2 reduction and environmental conservation. With comprehensive measures in place for environmental protection, safety, and disaster prevention, it continues its mission of stable electricity supply as an environmentally friendly thermal power plant.
