Suntory Launches New "Kaku Highball Can Yudoki" for Early Evening Drinking

Suntory is adding a new product to its popular Kaku Highball Can lineup: the "Kaku Highball Can Yudoki" (角ハイボール缶〈夕どき〉). It will be available at retailers nationwide across Japan from Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

The Kaku Highball Can series has built a following for its compatibility with food and the accessibility of enjoying a proper highball at home. With more households embracing remote work and dual-income lifestyles, there has been a growing trend of people starting to enjoy a drink with dinner in the early evening. However, research indicated that many consumers associate highball cans with a stronger alcohol character suited for later in the evening — something to sip slowly at night or over snacks after a meal. The new Yudoki variant was developed to address this gap, aiming for a lighter, more approachable option for those who want to enjoy a highball earlier in the day.

Taste and Packaging

The drink uses selected whisky blends as its base, finished with yuzu to bring out the natural depth and a pleasant lingering quality characteristic of whisky. The result is a smooth and easy-drinking profile.

The can design takes its cue from the evening sky: a sunset-toned background is overlaid with the brand's traditional hexagonal (tortoise shell) pattern across the entire surface, giving it a warm and inviting look.
