Moonbat Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto; Representative Director: Hisashi Kamada) will sequentially release the "kowaza Lightweight Carbon" from January 15th. This new addition to the sun and rain dual-purpose umbrella series "kowaza" features enhanced lightweight design while retaining the signature easy-folding guide system.
About the kowaza Series
"kowaza" launched in 2025 as an everyday-friendly model, inheriting the development philosophy of the popular "urawaza" series that debuted in March 2020. The series addresses the common discomfort many people experience when storing folding umbrellas by incorporating a guide structure that enables smooth folding. Since its release, the series has gained support for its ease of use, with cumulative sales exceeding 260,000 units.
The new "kowaza Lightweight Carbon" maintains this user-friendly design while achieving further weight reduction and a slimmer profile.

Lightweight Design Comparable to Rain Umbrellas
Through optimization of the guide sheet structure, the product achieves weight reduction nearly equal to rain umbrellas (same size) without light-blocking coating. The body weighs approximately 173g, offering excellent portability.
kowaza Series Strengths
"Amazing Folding Guide" Assists with Storage
kowaza inherits the shape-retention technology used in the "urawaza" series, known for its 3-second folding capability. Even after use, the special PET resin sheet attached to the umbrella's underside serves as a guide, allowing for smooth folding without wrinkles.
Reliable Water Repellency for Rain
Treated with Chemours' water-repellent agent "Teflon," the umbrella achieves top-grade 5 water repellency and water pressure resistance exceeding 10,000mm.
100% Light-Blocking and UV-Cutting Fabric
Multi-layer coating applied to the fabric's underside blocks both light and ultraviolet rays.
Proven Heat-Shielding Effect
In umbrella heat-shielding performance evaluation tests, a temperature difference of 32.9°C was observed.
Thermographic testing showed temperature differences of -14.1°C at the crown and -3.4°C at the right shoulder.
