Marvel Rivals Season 8.5 "The Sins of Alchemax" Launches June 12

Marvel Games and NetEase Games have announced the details for Marvel Rivals Season 8.5, titled "The Sins of Alchemax." The new season begins on Friday, June 12, 2026.

New Hero: Cyclops Joins as Duelist

The fearless X-Men leader Cyclops is coming to the battlefield as a Duelist. He can unleash powerful optic blasts directly ahead, and by bouncing them off the environment or enemies, he can reach targets hiding behind cover or at his back. Cyclops can also use the recoil from his blasts to move fluidly around the battlefield and secure advantageous positions. His Ultimate Ability sees Scott remove all output limiters, firing a devastating optic blast that obliterates everything in his path.

New Mode: "Annihilation Order (18v18)" and New Map "Kunlun Dragon Arena"

Season 8.5 introduces a large-scale new game mode, "Annihilation Order (18v18)." A dedicated new map, "Kunlun Dragon Arena," accompanies this mode, offering large-scale battles with a new level of strategy and dynamic team play.

"Marvel Rivals Summer Fest" Event

Following the June 18 update, a new holiday event called "Marvel Rivals Summer Fest" will be held. During the event, players can earn up to 2,500 units by completing daily logins and other event challenges. A new lineup of the much-requested "Swimwear Special" costumes will also be available.

A new social hub called "Hellfire Beach" is also being added, where players can take their favorite hero to the beach, snap photos, relax, and even go for a swim — all outside of combat.

Limited-Time "616 Day" Event Returns

From June 12 to June 26, the limited-time "616 Day" event will return. Limited-edition costumes and events that originally appeared from July to September 2025 are making a comeback, including past "Swimwear Special" costumes and the "Summer Special" collection.

Third-Party Tournament Program Announced

Marvel Rivals has announced a new third-party tournament program allowing community organizers, content creators, and esports organizations to host their own competitions. A tiered framework is in place to support events ranging from small local tournaments to large-scale open competitions.
