Marvel Games and NetEase Games have announced that Season 9, "The Mystery of Thebes," of the superhero PVP team shooter Marvel Rivals will begin on Friday, July 10, 2026.
This season introduces new hero Jubilee as a Strategist, along with a major overhaul of the Team-Up system, a full rework of Black Widow, the new convoy map Thebes, and the new game mode "The Road to Doom: Avengers / Age of Ultron," among other new content.
In the latter half of the season, Season 9.5, new hero Hood is scheduled to join the roster.
New Hero Jubilee Joins as a Strategist
In Season 9, Jubilee, a popular character from the X-Men, debuts as a new hero. Jubilee is a Strategist who wields dazzling firework energy. In battle, she uses vivid energy plasmoids to heal allies while dealing damage and blinding effects to enemies. Her Ultimate Ability engulfs the battlefield in brilliant fireworks, delivering a powerful blow to enemies.
New Map, New Mode, and Major Updates
Season 9 brings a major overhaul to the Team-Up system for all heroes. Each hero now has two independent Team-Up Ability loadouts, each with a "Base Effect" and a "Synergy Effect," enabling more varied cooperative play depending on team composition and battle conditions. Previously popular Team-Ups such as "Metallic Chaos" are also set to return.
Black Widow's combat loop has also been fully reworked, offering a new feel for the character. In addition, the new convoy map Thebes launches on July 23, followed by the new game mode "The Road to Doom: Avengers / Age of Ultron" on July 30. Players will battle Ultron's mechanical army across locations including Avengers Tower and Ultron's data space.
Marvel Rivals Mid-Season Finals in Los Angeles
From July 29 to August 1, the Marvel Rivals Mid-Season Finals will be held in Los Angeles. The top 10 teams that advanced from four regions around the world will gather to compete for the title of the competitive season's first world champion.
Details on the tournament schedule and ticket sales are scheduled to be released on the official website on July 7 (PT).
