MUJI (operated by Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd., headquartered in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo) will launch an "Air Mattress" starting January 14 (Wednesday) at select MUJI stores and the online store.
Ryohin Keikaku aims to realize "comfortable living and society" based on the value of "simplicity feeling no inferiority to luxury," providing products, services, and activities to organize and enrich daily life.
This time, they have created a space-saving and lightweight mattress utilizing air. The "Air Mattress" can be easily inflated by filling it with air, and when not in use, it can be deflated and stored compactly in the included storage bag. The mattress features a built-in pump that can be inflated simply by stepping on it with your foot, eliminating the need for a separate air pump. To ensure it can be used during emergencies such as disasters without additional accessories, the design requires no extra equipment.
The material used is TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), which is flexible and durable. Since it only needs to be inflated when in use, it can serve various purposes including nap mats, outdoor camping and car stays, guest bedding, and emergency supplies. The upper section of the mattress where the head rests is designed with extra thickness to function as a pillow, integrating the mattress and pillow into one design. The product is sold folded in stores for convenient carrying home.
