My Play Watch Brings Retro Game Classics to the Wrist — Japan Launch Set for October 29

The My Play Watch series — a collection of smartwatches designed around retro game culture — is headed to Japan. Zuiki Inc., a Yokohama-based company, has announced a Japan release date of October 29, 2026, with pre-orders opening on June 18, 2026.

What Is My Play Watch?

My Play Watch is a wearable device that takes a different approach from conventional smartwatches. Rather than centering on smartphone connectivity, notifications, or productivity, the focus is on retro game aesthetics and playability. The concept blends classic gaming culture with modern wearable design, adding a distinctive accent to everyday style.

The devices also include basic practical functions: fitness tracking for heart rate, step count, and calorie burn, along with themed time displays. Screens measure 1.91 to 2.02 inches (TFT), with high resolution and vivid color suited both to gaming and general use.

Notably, My Play Watch omits Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and notification features by design — it operates fully offline, removing distractions and focusing on games, fitness, and time display.

My Play Watch previously launched a collaboration with TAITO and Floor 84 Studio on Kickstarter for the SPACE INVADERS™: My Play Watch. The campaign, which ran from September 24 to October 25, 2024, raised approximately $60,000.

The Lineup

SPACE INVADERS™: My Play Watch – Red/Yellow

SPACE INVADERS is playable on a compact touchscreen, letting players drop into the classic arcade game anytime. The watch features a custom crown inspired by arcade cabinet controls, a SPACE INVADERS-themed fitness interface tracking heart rate, steps, and calories, and original SPACE INVADERS sound effects for alarms, timers, and gameplay audio.

ATARI 2600™: My Play Watch

Four ATARI 2600 games — CENTIPEDE, PONG, MISSILE COMMAND, and SUPER BREAKOUT — are included, each adapted for watch play. The design draws from the ATARI 2600 console, with a metal bezel, a red crown styled after a classic joystick, and a button reminiscent of a paddle controller. Authentic ATARI 2600 sounds are used for alarms, timers, and in-game audio.

Tetris®: My Play Watch

Tetris is built in and optimized for seamless touchscreen play. The watch includes a custom crown with Tetris-inspired visuals, a Tetris-themed software interface, and fitness tracking that displays steps, heart rate, and calories using Tetris motifs. Authentic Tetris sounds accompany alarms, timers, and gameplay.

emoji™: My Play Watch

Two games are built in — emoji MERGE! and ASK emoji — offering casual play during short breaks. The design features vibrant colors, expressive emoji characters, and bright artwork. Fitness tracking uses emoji-themed visuals for steps, heart rate, and calorie data. Over 100 emoji watch faces can be combined to create a personalized display, and one of four mystery bands is included with each unit.
