The smartphone strategy game Nobunaga's Ambition: Shinsen, developed under the official license from Koei Tecmo Games' Nobunaga's Ambition: Shinsei, starts its S2 season "Contest for Supremacy" (風雲争覇) on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
Following the end of the Onin War, lords across the land are swept up in the chaos of battle as one major conflict erupts after another. In this turbulent age, great generals emerge one by one, building the foundations of power for their respective domains. Military strategy determines the outcome of battles, and the schemes of the council of advisors decide the rise and fall of factions. A new struggle for the unification of Japan now begins.
S2 Season "Contest for Supremacy" Begins
In the S2 season "Contest for Supremacy," strategic actions that make fuller use of each general's individual traits and historical background become possible, with significant advances on both the domestic administration and battle fronts.
Eight New Generals Join the Battle

Eight new generals are set to join in the S2 season, each bringing unique characteristics and tactics that will expand strategic possibilities on the battlefield.
- Kuroda Kanbei
A retainer of the Toyotomi clan who served as chief strategist for his lord Hideyoshi and contributed greatly to Hideyoshi's unification of Japan. However, his exceptional strategic acumen was feared, and his stipend was limited to 120,000 koku at Buzen-Nakatsu.
Council Skill: Encirclement Tactics (Military Affairs)
Unique Tactic: Like Water (Passive)
Taught Tactic: The Wise Love Water (Command)
Excels in formations focused on strategic damage, performing as a reliable tactical attacker. Pairing him with strategy or damage-focused tactics and combining with a stable healer (such as Toyotomi Hideyoshi or Nene) is effective.
- Maeda Keiji
The greatest eccentric of the Sengoku era. Son of Takigawa Masushige and adopted son of Maeda Toshihisa, elder brother of Maeda Toshiie. Peerless with the spear and deeply versed in elegant arts. At the Battle of Sekigahara, he fought on the side of the Uesugi clan.
Council Skill: Night Rapid March (Strategy)
Unique Tactic: Unrestrained by the World (Charge)
Taught Tactic: War Flower of the Warring States (Charge)
Excelling as a sub-attacker, combining with tactics that grant consecutive strike effects or other charge tactics allows him to serve as both an attacker and a debuffer.
- Yamagata Masakage
A retainer of the Takeda clan and one of the Four Great Generals of Takeda. Like his elder brother Obu Toramasa, he dressed his troops in red. He assisted his lord Shingen in all matters of domestic affairs, military, and diplomacy. He died in battle at Nagashino, struck by rifle fire.
Council Skill: Long-Range Charge (Military Affairs)
Unique Tactic: Takeda's Red Armor (Passive)
Taught Tactic: Swift and Wide Charge (Active)
A recommended formation pairs Yamagata Masakage, Takeda Shingen, and Obu Toramasa in a red armor cavalry formation. Accumulating critical states allows Yamagata Masakage's maximized physical attack power to be unleashed.
- Takahashi Joun
A retainer of the Otomo clan and lord of Chikuzen Iwaya Castle. The second son of Yoshihiro Akari and a fierce general who stood alongside Tachibana Dōsetsu. He repelled a 50,000-strong Shimazu army at his castle with only 700 soldiers, taking many enemies down in his final stand.
Council Skill: Surprise Flanking Attack (Strategy)
Unique Tactic: War God of Bungo (Passive)
Taught Tactic: War Flower of the Warring States (Charge)
A general capable of fulfilling various roles. He can serve as a physical attacker employing pursuit or active preparation tactics, and his Insight effect from "War God of Bungo" makes him resistant to control effects. He can also operate as a support character with control tactics or as a cunning healer.
- Satomi Yoshitaka
A Sengoku daimyo of the Boso Peninsula. He became head of the clan after defeating his cousin Yoshitoyo, who had killed his father Saneuji. Though defeated by Hojo Ujiyasu at the Battle of Konodai, he continued to expand his influence in Boso and fought on against the Hojo clan.
Council Skill: Excellent Achievement Bonus (Military Affairs)
Unique Tactic: The Quiet Courage of the Benevolent (Charge)
Taught Tactic: Border Battle (Charge)
A recommended formation for early-game progression combines him with two high-intelligence generals such as Takeda Shingen, Imagawa Yoshimoto, and Oichi.
- Ouchi Yoshitaka
The 31st head of the Ouchi clan. He served as guardian of seven provinces and wielded power over Chugoku and Kyushu. After the death of his adopted heir Harumochi, he devoted himself to literary pursuits and built a unique culture, but was betrayed by his retainer Sue Harukata and took his own life.
Council Skill: Excellent Silver Production Expansion (Industry)
Unique Tactic: Monk of the Degenerate Age (Command)
Taught Tactic: Free Between Movement and Stillness (Active)
Ideally used as a support in a strategy-focused formation. It is important to adjust equipment and attribute distribution so that the tactical attacker's intelligence reaches the maximum value within the formation. Physical attackers should also be removed from the formation to avoid the drawback.
- Soma Moritane
The 15th head of the Soma clan and eldest son of Akitane. Lord of Odaka Castle. After the Tensho Disturbance, he opposed the Date clan and fought fierce battles in various locations. Meanwhile, he made peace with the neighboring Tamura Kiyoaki and consolidated his territorial base.
Council Skill: Excellent Achievement Bonus (Military Affairs)
Unique Tactic: Vanguard Encouragement (Active)
Taught Tactic: Border Battle (Charge)
Recommended to be paired with generals whose unique tactics are active or charge type, while the general focuses on support by employing auxiliary tactics.
- Zuikeiin
Daughter of Imagawa Ujichika. She married Hojo Ujiyasu and gave birth to Ujimasa, Ujikuni, and others. Even when the Imagawa and Hojo clans were at odds during the Kato Disturbance, she did not seek a divorce. Her daughter Zoshunin became the wife of Imagawa Ujizane.
Council Skill: Excellent Silver Production Expansion (Industry)
Unique Tactic: Impermanence (Command)
Taught Tactic: Free Between Movement and Stillness (Active)
Recommended to be added to a formation capable of dealing early-game damage as a fire support role.
Council of Advisors (Hyojoshu) System
Council Chamber
- Construction becomes available after reaching Castle Tower Level 8
- The number of appointable generals increases with level (maximum 8)
Council Skills
- Four categories: Construction / Accounting / Military Affairs / Scheming
- Beneficial and debilitating effects can be activated simultaneously
- Effects change based on Administration and Charisma stats
Previously unused generals gain new roles through this system, and domestic administration strategy itself is reconstructed.

Military Studies (Heigaku) System
By having generals study military arts, various abilities can be improved and generals strengthened. The depth of general development increases, creating unprecedented options for unit formations.
5-star great generals and 4-star good generals can study military arts to enhance their own abilities.
Military studies are divided into four major types, and each general can freely choose one to master:
- [Martial Strategy] Military Studies: Normal attack enhancement
- [Tactical Strategy] Military Studies: Tactic ability enhancement
- [Formation] Military Studies: Defense ability enhancement
- [Combat Ready] Military Studies: Support ability enhancement
Even within the same type of military studies, either [Military Studies: Unorthodox] or [Military Studies: Orthodox] enhancement can be selected and applied. Ranking up generals slightly increases their own damage dealt, healing, and damage reduction rates.

Incident System and Incident Tactics
The Incident system lets players relive famous events and anecdotes from the Sengoku period while learning unique Incident Tactics associated with those events. It deepens historical understanding while greatly expanding strategic options.
