Sabae-Born Smart Glasses SABERA Go on General Sale October 27, With Pre-Orders From October 21

SABERA (サベラ), smart glasses (AR glasses) developed and sold by jig.jp Co., Ltd. (株式会社jig.jp), a company based in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture, will go on general sale on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

Ahead of general sale, pre-orders open at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, October 21 on the official SABERA online store and other channels. In-store sales are scheduled to begin in stages from Wednesday, October 28 at Bic Camera, Yodobashi Camera, Yamada Denki, eyewear shops, and other stores.

SABERA began pre-sales in April 2026 on the support-purchase service Makuake, and its general sale follows the completion of shipments for those pre-sale orders. Entrepreneurs Hirotake Kubo (久保裕丈) and Miki Ozaki (尾﨑美紀) have also been named official SABERA partners to coincide with the general sale.

From Makuake Pre-Sales to General Sale

SABERA went on pre-sale on Makuake on April 20, 2026, and passed a total of ¥100 million in supporter purchases in under three weeks from the start of sales.

After the pre-sale ended, mass production and quality improvements continued while products were shipped in sequence to supporters. jig.jp apologized to those who had to wait for shipment and thanked them for their patience.

With shipments of the Makuake pre-sale units now complete, the product moves to general sale (Note 1). jig.jp says it will keep improving the product and service based on user feedback and aims to spread AR glasses as a new product category.

Note 1: For some customers, support is still ongoing, including fitting and adjusting prescription lenses and checking individual products.

About SABERA

SABERA is a Japan-born smart glasses (AR glasses) brand developed by jig.jp. Its name combines Sabae (SABAE), a center of eyewear production, with a new era (ERA).

At first glance, SABERA looks like ordinary glasses, but it has a built-in display that shows text in the wearer's field of view. When linked with a smartphone, it offers features useful in daily life and business, including notification checks, real-time translation, navigation, script display, voice transcription with AI summaries, and an AI assistant, all without taking out the smartphone.

The product combines the software development and UX design capabilities of jig.jp, a software company, with the design expertise of 株式会社ボストンクラブ, a long-established eyewear maker in Sabae, and the AR optical technology of Cellid株式会社. The aim is "AR glasses that can be used in daily life," with a natural fit and appearance as an extension of regular glasses, even with a display built in.

Main Product Features

  • Design that blends into daily life: A natural appearance close to ordinary glasses, with a lightweight design of about 38 g
  • Information shown in the field of view: Uses Cellid's waveguide optical technology to display the necessary text in view
  • Multiple functions: Supports translation, notification checks, navigation, script display, voice transcription, AI answers, and more
  • Prescription lenses: Supports lenses for nearsightedness, astigmatism, and distance-near multifocal use, so people who wear glasses every day can use it as well
  • Support in Japan: A system covering everything from software development and service operation to customer support has been built

Future Plans

jig.jp positions this general sale as an important step toward the full-scale spread of SABERA. In addition to its own online store, it plans to expand its sales network of consumer electronics retailers and eyewear shops in stages, building an environment where more people across Japan can buy and try SABERA.

Through collaboration with the official partners and various promotional activities, jig.jp aims to raise awareness of smart glasses as a new product category, and it will also continue software updates and feature expansion based on user feedback.

Beyond the consumer market, jig.jp is also verifying possible uses in business and industry, including manufacturing, construction, healthcare, and service industries, and plans to expand into the B2B field.

jig.jp aims for a world where AR glasses settle in as a natural information interface in daily life and, like conventional glasses, can be chosen by users to suit their lifestyle and purpose.
