A free demo of Shadow Mate, a 3D horror action adventure for PC currently in development by Tokyo-based SpringGuild, Inc., has been available on Steam since October 15, 2026 (Thursday). The game will also take part in Steam Next Fest: October 2026 Edition starting October 19.

Shadow Mate is a 3D horror action adventure set in a collapsed research facility. It tells the story of a girl named Cynthia and Belial, a mysterious parasitic lifeform living inside her body.
The newly released free demo does not cover the early part of the full version's story. Instead, it is a special demo made for experiencing the world and combat action of Shadow Mate.
Players explore the abandoned research facility together with Cynthia and Belial and fight grotesque monsters. In addition to actions that use Belial's power, the gameplay includes close-quarters combat in dragon-human form.

An Escape Story for a Girl and a Parasitic Lifeform
The game follows Cynthia, who carries the mysterious parasitic lifeform Belial in her body, as she tries to escape from a research facility where grotesque monsters roam.
The demo lets players try exploring the eerie facility, fighting with Belial's power, and close-quarters action in dragon-human form.

Shadow Mate is scheduled to take part in Steam Next Fest: October 2026 Edition, which runs from October 19 to October 26, 2026.
The free demo can also be played during Steam Next Fest. It is a chance to try out the world of Cynthia and Belial, whether you are new to the game or have had your eye on it.
Story
Cynthia, a girl, wakes up in a collapsed research facility. She does not know why she is there and sets out to escape.
However, a mysterious parasitic lifeform called Belial lives inside her body.
Grotesque monsters roam the facility. Researchers have been seized by madness. And forbidden experiments were carried out here.
Relying on Belial's power as she moves through the facility, Cynthia gradually closes in on the truth hidden in this place.
The full version is planned to tell a story that begins when two beings, the girl Cynthia and the small dragon Belial, meet.
