Fans can now summon their favorite VTuber in AR just by holding a smartphone over a card. AttendMe, a Chiyoda, Tokyo-based company that works in VTuber influencer marketing, has opened orders for SHIGLIA, an NFC-equipped card with AR functionality created in collaboration with 30 VTubers. It is a new kind of digital merchandise for fans.
The Concept: Summon Your Favorite Just by Holding Up Your Smartphone
The virtual link card SHIGLIA is an NFC-equipped card with AR functionality. Holding a smartphone over the card launches the AR camera, and the VTuber's illustration appears on the screen in real time. SHIGLIA has a track record of tie-ups with more than 300 VTubers, and this lot is part of that effort.
A "Digital Acrylic Stand" That Fits in Your Wallet: No Need to Carry Figures or Plush Toys
Taking figures or plush toys out of the house can be bulky, and there is always the worry of damage or dirt. With SHIGLIA, all it takes is a single card kept in a wallet or pass case. The card is the same size as a business card and lightweight, so fans can bring their favorite VTuber along wherever they go.
The moment a smartphone is held over the card, the VTuber's illustration appears on the screen in AR. The card itself is made of a hard IC card material and printed with carefully chosen ink, and it is designed to resist fading with everyday use and to last as a keepsake.
Every Card Is Original to Each VTuber
The front of each card is printed with the VTuber's name, birthday, a line of dialogue the VTuber came up with, and an original "move name" and "move description." Each card is designed to be one of a kind for that VTuber.
A Rare Card Available Only in 3-Card Sets: Secret Specs and Extended AR Features
"Card C" (the rare card) can only be obtained by purchasing the 3-card set. Its back is printed with the VTuber's handwritten signature or message.
The rare card also comes with extended AR features. The summoned illustration can be moved and resized freely, and the display stays on screen even when the card is moved away from the camera. The 3-card set is priced to be a better deal than buying cards individually.
