About The Person I Loved Asked Me to Die in My Sister's Stead
An anime adaptation is currently in development for this light novel series, which has surpassed 1.4 million copies in circulation (including digital editions).
The story follows Wisteria, a former noblewoman who became the guardian of a poison-filled otherworldly realm in her sister's place. One day, a man who looks just like her first love appears from the sky — Lloyd, who turns out to be her first love's son. He explains that he has come seeking Sultis, Wisteria's talking holy sword, as proof of his intent to propose to a princess. Having survived in a world where time stopped for her, Wisteria defeats Lloyd with her own magic and urges him to return to his world, but he refuses: "To defeat you, make me your apprentice!" As their one-sided master-and-apprentice relationship begins, Wisteria finds herself both frustrated and drawn in by her quickly improving pupil — and wonders whether her frozen time will ever start moving again.
More information is available on the series' official site.
