A new rice-fermented drink, VATEN F, goes on sale on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Fukumitsuya Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture) makes it from the raw materials of its energy drink VATEN without pressing or filtering them, so the drink retains all of the natural components.
An "Unpressed" VATEN That Also Provides Rice-Derived Dietary Fiber
VATEN, launched in 2020, is an energy drink made entirely from rice-fermentation-derived ingredients. It applies the brewing technology Fukumitsuya has built up since its founding, and it was jointly developed through industry-academia-government collaboration with Kanazawa University, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ishikawa Prefecture Industrial Research Institute (石川県工業試験場). Sales volume has risen year after year, and the drink now plays a part in the company's three businesses (alcoholic beverages, food, and cosmetics).
The new VATEN F joins the lineup. It is made from the raw materials of "VA-1", the rice-fermentation extract that makes up 100% of VATEN, without any pressing or filtering step, so it keeps all of the natural components.
Product Features
The drink focuses on mitochondria, which govern the life of cells and are closely tied to health. It is made only from quality domestic rice and a natural water called "Hyakunen-sui" (百年水, literally "hundred-year water"), which takes more than a hundred years to travel from the foot of sacred Mt. Hakusan to a point 150 m below the sake brewery. The company's original fermentation technology is used to the fullest.
In addition to rice-fermentation-derived amino acids, citric acid and polyphenols, the drink provides both water-soluble and insoluble dietary fiber. It has a pleasant acidity, a rich sweetness and a thick texture. It can be enjoyed across a wide range of temperatures, and also mixed with sparkling water or hot water.
Design and Naming
The drink keeps the previous design, which features an illustration of a mitochondrion, and the champagne-gold color scheme. The name combines "Baten" (VATEN), derived from "batenai" (バテない), which carries meanings such as "never tired" and "having stamina", with "F", the initial of Fiber and Full (filled, abundant, complete).
Who It Is For
The drink is aimed at people who want to look after their health in daily life, their physical function during exercise, and their physical condition in preparation for pregnancy.

What Is Dietary Fiber?
Dietary fiber is a component of food that human digestive enzymes cannot break down. It is broadly divided into water-soluble fiber, which dissolves in water, and insoluble fiber, which does not. In recent years, attention has turned to the role of dietary fiber, and besides regulating the intestines, it is noted for various functions such as slowing the absorption of fats and sugars.
In the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's "Dietary Reference Intakes for Japanese (2025 edition)", the daily target intake of dietary fiber is at least 20,000–22,000 mg for adult men and at least 17,000–18,000 mg for adult women.
The amount of dietary fiber in one bottle (150 g) of VATEN F is about the same as that in half a head of lettuce (150 g), which contains 1,650 mg.

Thanks to Fukumitsuya's original rice fermentation technology, VATEN F contains amino acids, including all nine essential amino acids, as well as polyphenols, citric acid and sugars. These are components needed to improve exercise endurance and recover quickly. The drink is also rich in glutamine, which is involved in muscle recovery and in improving the intestinal environment.
