Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise's "Ken Matsudaira Mamire Mamire Island: Summer Campaign" Debuts a New Aquarium, Following the Popular Ken Matsudaira Mamire Amusement Park (July 18 – August 31, 2026)

Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise is kicking off its 2026 summer holiday special program, "Ken Matsudaira Mamire Mamire Island: Summer Campaign," on July 18 (Saturday). The immersive Ken Matsudaira experience that became a hot topic this spring is evolving further: the amusement park area is getting even more "mamire" (covered in Ken Matsudaira), and a new aquarium and interactive area are joining in on the fun as well, with Ken Matsudaira himself set to visit on July 30 (Thursday).

The Ken Matsudaira Mamire Amusement Park, which became a hot topic this spring, is evolving into an even more Ken Matsudaira-covered "Ken Matsudaira Mamire Mamire Amusement Park," and a new "Ken Matsudaira Mamire Mamire Aquarium" is joining it — together putting the whole island under the spell of Ken Matsudaira.

Program Overview

The collaboration between Ken Matsudaira and Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise, the "Ken Matsudaira Mamire Amusement Park," drew big crowds and became a hot topic this spring. In response to numerous requests for a longer run, the attraction is evolving this summer into the "Ken Matsudaira Mamire Mamire Amusement Park," complete with new rides. A new "Ken Matsudaira Mamire Mamire Aquarium" is also joining in, roughly doubling the amount of Ken Matsudaira coverage for a laugh-filled way to beat the heat. The result is "Ken Matsudaira Mamire Mamire Island: Summer Campaign," in which the whole of Hakkeijima falls under Ken Matsudaira's spell.

The program builds an extreme world where "Ken Matsudaira is everywhere you look" and "everything turns into the Matsuken Samba." From the moment guests step inside, they are enveloped by Ken Matsudaira through sight, sound, and experience alike, in what's described as an "overly immersive entertainment space." Numerous features are designed to raise the "concentration of Ken Matsudaira" the more guests participate, creating an unusual immersive experience where, before you know it, there's no escaping Ken Matsudaira all day. It's a theme park unlike any other, given over to Ken Matsudaira to an extraordinary degree, blending laughter with bewilderment.

Continuing from this spring's program, the following attractions return with new additions:

Ken Matsudaira Train

A shuttle train shaped like Ken Matsudaira's face runs around the park playing "Matsuken Samba II." Riding a vehicle while surrounded by Ken Matsudaira's singing voice is an experience that sounds like it should already exist but never did. While touring the Ken Matsudaira-covered park on the Ken Matsudaira Train, why not hum along to the chorus of "Matsuken Samba II"?

Ken Matsudaira Bubble Shooting

A kind-hearted shooting attraction where guests get to "feed" water into the open mouth of a Ken Matsudaira figure. Enjoy it without worrying too much about why you're giving Ken Matsudaira water.

At "Umi Farm," the natural open-sea aquarium area, a special photo spot has appeared where guests can take a picture of themselves reeling in a fish version of Ken Matsudaira. Enjoy a photo opportunity that's sure to look great on social media, featuring the humorous sight of Ken Matsudaira transformed into a fish.

Sea Paradise's signature drenching shows are also part of the summer lineup, offering plenty of ways to beat the daytime heat.

Animal Life Live!

Held at the 4th-floor Live Stadium in the Aqua Museum, "Animal Life Live!" lets guests experience the animals' real movements and vitality up close during the performance, offering a chance to reflect on the natural environment and the animals' future.

The show features water effects from fountains installed above the stadium in collaboration with the dolphins, an interactive quiz about walrus ecology, dynamic jumps from bottlenose dolphins and Pacific white-sided dolphins, and an elegant underwater performance by beluga whales.

During the summer season, the bottlenose dolphins, belugas, and walruses also treat guests to refreshing splashes of water — a perfect way to cool down. Guests who would like to receive a splash are invited to the front of the stage, where trainers introduce how each animal's way of splashing water and using its fins differs, before guests get thoroughly soaked.

Enjoy a performance that lets you feel both the refreshing coolness the animals bring and the abilities and charm they naturally possess.

LIGHTIA: Miracle of Seven Colors

Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise is currently holding "LIGHTIA: Miracle of Seven Colors," an immersive nighttime performance that synchronizes dolphins with video, lighting, sound, and fountain effects.

The show follows the dolphins on a journey through the past, present, and future, depicting the history, birth, and connections of life, and telling an epic story that transcends time and space as they work to bloom a "miracle flower" linking the harmony of life with hope for the future. The finale is set to "Haru," a song by the popular band Yorushika, its bittersweet yet powerful melody syncing with the miraculous story woven from life and light, for a moving final scene in which all life is joined as one.

The performance unfolds across four vividly colored worlds — blue, red, green, and yellow — with the dolphins, trainers, and visual effects forming a synchronized triangle for an overwhelming 20 minutes that never lets viewers step outside the world of the show.

A system that fully synchronizes video and visual effects with the trainers' movements and the dolphins' routines continuously produces moments of synchronization that would not normally be possible, maximizing the dolphins' natural vitality in the performance.

Enjoy this immersive nighttime performance at the Live Stadium, which can hold approximately 1,500 guests, created through the unity of dolphins with video, lighting, sound, and fountain effects.

Super Iwashi Illusion: Miracle of the Shimmering School

Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise is renewing "Super Iwashi Illusion," a performance by 50,000 Japanese sardines in the 8-meter-tall, 1,500-ton large tank "Schools and Shimmering Fish Living in the Open Sea." Starting July 18, 2026 (Saturday), the show will be reborn as "Super Iwashi Illusion: Miracle of the Shimmering School."

The renewed show portrays the story of sardines forming a large school and surviving with strength and resilience in the open sea, even amid the harsh reality of "eat or be eaten" that is an everyday occurrence in the natural ocean.

This renewal features an original score matched to the sardines' movements, along with new staging that draws out the full dynamism and power of the school, evolving the show into an even more spectacular performance. Guests can experience an underwater drama unfolding in the open sea — one of oceanic abundance and of creatures adapting to their environment to carry life forward with strength.
