Starting September 1, 2026 (Tuesday), Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse has opened a new tax-free counter on the 2nd floor of Building 2, aimed at making shopping more convenient for international visitors and easing the burden of tax-free procedures.
Background and Purpose
As one of Yokohama's leading tourist destinations, Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse welcomes many visitors from Japan and overseas. With inbound demand continuing to grow, the new "tax-free counter" was introduced as part of an effort to create a more comfortable shopping environment for international visitors, letting them complete tax-free procedures for multiple stores all at once. The service launches with 15 participating stores, with the lineup to expand over time.
With this counter, tax-free procedures that previously had to be completed separately at each store can now be handled together in one place, improving convenience and reducing the burden on international visitors. It also reduces the workload for store staff handling tax-free procedures, helping the facility as a whole offer a smoother, higher-quality shopping experience.
