I've been to Kanazawa a few times 🙋 and while there's a sightseeing loop bus (details here), I personally find taxis the most convenient way to get around.
The bus works fine, but there are a few downsides:
- Bus routes and stops can be confusing. It takes time to check if the bus actually goes to your destination.
- It's often crowded—even on weekdays. There were long lines, and I couldn't get on the first few buses. Weekends and holidays seem even busier.
- It takes longer to get there. Because of all the stops, a 30-minute drive can easily take over an hour by bus.
That said, buses are cheaper, so if you're on a budget or not in a rush, they're a good option. There's even a one-day pass you can buy (info here)!
As for taxis:
- They're easy to catch! You can flag one down or use an app.
- They take you directly to your destination.
- No stops in between, so it's fast.
It's more expensive, but I didn't want to waste time—I wanted to move efficiently, so I went with taxis! 🚕
