About This Event

Held annually in spring at Tonami Tulip Park in Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture, this is Japan's largest tulip festival. Launched in 1952 to commemorate the founding of Tonami Town, the fair is renowned for its spectacular display of approximately 3 million tulips across 300 varieties in full bloom. The venue features a massive ground painting created with 210,000 tulips, and the view from the 26-meter-high Tulip Tower and Tulip Sky Walk overlooking the colorful carpet below is truly breathtaking. Visitors can enjoy Tonami's unique creative presentations throughout the grounds, including the "Flower Grand Valley"—a 4-meter-high, 30-meter-long tulip representation of the famous "Snow Wall" of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route—and floating flower beds on Hyotan Pond. The park is filled with diverse tulip varieties in a demonstration garden showcasing an extensive collection, the Aroma Garden where visitors can enjoy fragrant blooms, and the Waterwheel Garden adorned with a quintuple water wheel. The fair admission ticket also grants entry to the adjacent art museum and local history museum, allowing visitors to fully experience Toyama's culture and nature throughout the day.
