Yokohama Oktoberfest is Japan's largest German beer festival, held annually in autumn (with occasional cancellations) at the historic Red Brick Warehouse Plaza in the port city of Yokohama. Since its inception in 2003 as Japan's first Oktoberfest, it has been beloved by many people for over 20 years as a autumn tradition of Yokohama. This event faithfully recreates the traditions and atmosphere of the authentic Oktoberfest held in Munich, Germany.
Inside the large tent venue, live performances by authentic German bands resonate throughout. Visitors can experience the authentic German festival atmosphere as if they were in Munich itself, while enjoying toasts with the traditional "Prost!" cheer. The main attraction of the event is the opportunity to taste over 100 varieties of authentic German beer, including selections from Germany's six major breweries. From draft beers from Munich's prestigious breweries such as Hofbräu, Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Spaten, and Löwenbräu, to limited beers making their Japanese debut, and even local Yokohama craft beers, a wide variety of options are available. The German-style glass deposit system is employed, making environmentally conscious and sustainable operation one of its features.
Authentic German traditional cuisine is not to be missed. From classic menu items such as assorted sausages, Weisswurst, Eisbein, Schnitzel, and Pretzels to creative German dishes, a diverse range of gourmet food can be enjoyed.
