Kyoto Ghost Tour: Bamboo Forest Nights

◆Introduction This is a unique experience unlike ghost tours in other countries. We’ll meet, grab a drink, and then dive into Kyoto’s dark history. As we walk, you’ll hear unsettling urban legends, stories of tragic events, and chilling tales of real-life figures—including serial killers—all connected to the area. This tour does not focus on yōkai or traditional ghost stories. Expect to walk extensively through atmospheric spots, listening to spine-tingling stories that bring the area’s hidden past to life. In certain parts, you’ll be asked to walk alone in the dark—be prepared, as this isn’t a joke but an immersive part of the experience. ◆Included ・Guide to Telling Ghost Stories ・1 drink (alcoholic or non-acoholic) ・A Japanese Curse (only lasting 24 hours!) ・Parting prayers (ensuring no spirits follow you home!) ◆Not Included ・Souvenir ghosts (they prefer to stay there) ・Exorcisms (we like our ghosts just the way they are!) ◆Itinerary ・Saga-Arashiyama Station (15 min) Meet at Saga-Arashiyama Station, grab drinks at a convenience store, and head to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. At night, the forest is pitch dark, creating a unique and thrilling experience. ・Arashiyama Bamboo Forest (45 min) We are embarking on an adventure to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest at nightfall. As the veil of darkness unfurls over the forest, the area will be enveloped in an intense pitch-black, transforming it into an enigmatic world of towering, whispering bamboo stalks. Brace yourself for an exhilarating experience, as the eeriness of the darkness could send delightful shivers down your spine. ・Pass By Saga-Arashiyama Station We’ll return to Saga-Arashiyama Station, reflecting on our nighttime adventure through bamboo groves, the Moon Crossing Bridge, and the illuminated Kimono Forest. Thank you for joining this unique Arashiyama night tour. ◆Additional Info ・Not wheelchair accessible ・Absolutely NOT recommended for travelers that are afraid of the DARK ・Not recommended to walk around the area before the tour ・Must be able to be alone in the dark ・IMPORT: some topics are NOT suitable for some people (suicide, serial killers, etc) ・Be prepare to walk through atmospheric, secluded areas. ・Not Your Typical Ghost Tour: No yōkai aka monsters or traditional ghost stories. ![](https://assets.hldycdn.com/experiences/d3ae06_db99848484ca4ea7afbfe475583393b9~mv2.jpg) ![](https://assets.hldycdn.com/experiences/d3ae06_6bf2813040b340c1a8a58c42add69041~mv2.jpg) ![](https://assets.hldycdn.com/experiences/d3ae06_76ac95a5373d4e759418ab3fad8a303a~mv2.jpg)

During the day they are bustling with visitors, but in the evening the atmosphere becomes calm and serene. While there are izakayas and local eateries scattered throughout the area, the number is limited. Around Arashiyama Station, you can find small restaurants and bars also frequented by locals, making it possible to enjoy drinks within walking distance. In contrast, Sagano is mainly home to tourist-oriented shops and restaurants, many of which close early, so it is not particularly suited for bar-hopping from place to place. Overall, unlike Gion or Pontocho, there is no well-known nightlife district here, and the distance between venues is wider, so dining options are fewer. However, for those who wish to savor each stop at a relaxed pace while enjoying the lingering charm of the area's famous sights, Arashiyama and Sagano offer a special kind of evening experience. If you wish to enjoy bar hopping in this area, it is recommended to select one or two places in advance and spend time savoring your meal at a relaxed pace. ![](https://assets.hldycdn.com/13b86bbc-e594-4dac-98b1-f02a2a8006f5.jpg?w=1200&h=800&fit=crop&q=80) ![](https://assets.hldycdn.com/b9fc3c5c-ce36-4641-b563-72a87c5a5740.jpg?w=1200&h=800&fit=crop&q=80) ![](https://assets.hldycdn.com/c2320bfa-0954-4b71-9e36-b17f5c2da8ca.webp?w=1200&h=800&fit=crop&q=80) ![](https://assets.hldycdn.com/3e81c50e-3bb4-447e-b2bb-0b99b2591d02.jpg?w=1200&h=800&fit=crop&q=80) ![](https://assets.hldycdn.com/bbb8b0b4-4fd1-4545-adcd-e2a8a3756250.jpg?w=1200&h=800&fit=crop&q=80)
