◆Kumamoto – Food & Nightlife
Kumamoto City's Shimotori and Kamitori arcades make up the prefecture's largest nightlife district, filled with izakayas serving local specialties like horse sashimi and spicy mustard lotus root, best enjoyed with regional shochu or sake. The Shinshigai and Hanabata-machi areas also offer casual standing bars and lively izakayas, perfect for hopping from place to place.

Beyond the city, port towns like Yatsushiro and Amakusa have local pubs focused on fresh seafood, while Aso offers eateries serving Aka-ushi (local red beef) dishes directly from nearby ranches. From vibrant urban nightlife to rustic countryside taverns, Kumamoto offers a wide range of drinking atmospheres.
