◆Kushiro, Nemuro & Akan Area – Local Food & Nightlife
The Kushiro, Nemuro, and Akan area is rich in fresh seafood and unique local dishes. Kushiro is the birthplace of robatayaki and is also famous for Kushiro ramen and supakatsu (spaghetti with pork cutlet). Nemuro is known for hanasaki crab, Pacific saury, and the local B-class gourmet dish escallop. In Akan, you can enjoy wakasagi (smelt) dishes and traditional Ainu cuisine.
For nightlife, Kushiro's Suehirocho district is the largest entertainment area in Eastern Hokkaido, with hundreds of izakayas, bars, and snack bars. In Nemuro, small izakayas near the station offer fresh seasonal seafood in a cozy atmosphere. In Akan, the hot spring town features scattered izakayas and snack bars, where visitors can enjoy a relaxed local nightlife experience along with their stay.
