◆Oita – Food & Nightlife
In Oita City, the Miyako-machi district is the prefecture's largest entertainment hub, filled with izakayas, bars, and snack lounges. It's the best place to savor local specialties like Seki-aji and Seki-saba (premium horse mackerel and mackerel) or Bungo beef, paired with local sake.
Beppu, as a hot spring resort town, offers a unique nightlife where you can enjoy drinks in casual izakayas after a bath, often in yukata. In Kannawa and Kitahama, visitors can easily find local pubs serving shochu and Oita-style dishes. Nakatsu is known as the home of karaage (fried chicken), making it a must-try dish in its izakayas. In towns like Bungo-Takada and Usuki, old merchant streets are dotted with atmospheric izakayas inside renovated traditional houses.
Some places may not speak English, but with a local guide you can relax and enjoy. We will also check if bar hopping is possible in your preferred area, so please feel free to book.
