◆Shimogamo Shrine, Ginkaku-ji & Kyoto Gyoen – Food & Nightlife
The Demachiyanagi and Hyakumanben districts, located near Shimogamo Shrine and Kyoto University, are lively student areas filled with casual izakayas serving Kyoto-style obanzai, tofu dishes, and seasonal vegetables. Across the city center, refined wine bars and craft-cocktail lounges offer premium Fushimi sake and local craft spirits like KI NO BI gin. Keep in mind that Kyoto's nightlife often closes earlier than in bigger cities, so starting your evening early is recommended. The Ginkaku-ji area itself is quiet at night, so for late-night bars, head toward downtown Kyoto.
