Tsukimi is a traditional Japanese event where people admire the autumn moon and give thanks for the season's harvest.
One charming aspect of Tsukimi in Japan is all the food inspired by it. Traditionally, people enjoy seasonal treats like tsukimi dango (rice dumplings) or sweet potatoes, but nowadays there's also a fun, modern twist.
For example, big fast-food chains like McDonald's, KFC, Burger King, and MOS Burger all release special "Tsukimi" menus during this season—usually burgers with a fried egg, symbolizing the full moon.
Many people look forward to trying and comparing these limited-edition items each year. As for me, I always make sure to have McDonald's Cheese Tsukimi Burger 🌕.
