Edogawa Fireworks Festival - One of Tokyo's Largest Fireworks Display

The Edogawa Fireworks Festival is one of Tokyo's largest fireworks events, held simultaneously by Edogawa Ward in Tokyo and Ichikawa City in Chiba Prefecture across the Edogawa River. Since the first event in 1976, it has been held annually on the first Saturday of August, with approximately 14,000 fireworks illuminating Tokyo's summer night sky in about one hour. Set against the expansive riverbank, the festival's greatest appeal is the ability to enjoy fireworks in an open space with few obstacles. The main highlight is the signature opening spectacle of "1,000 fireworks in 5 seconds." This overwhelming opening sequence launches fireworks all at once, enveloping the entire venue in excitement. Following this, themed presentations unfold one after another, including a large-scale set piece shaped like Mount Fuji and the golden fireworks "Kin-Kamuro" (golden willow) that crown the climax. The performances are handled by "Soke Hanabi Kagiya," a historic fireworks company dating back to the Edo period, and their multi-layered programs synchronized with music are renowned for their artistry and technical excellence.
