Japan's Local Ice Cream Festival "Aipaku® AKITA 2026" Opens at Seibu Akita

From August 14 (Friday) to August 26 (Wednesday), Seibu Akita's basement event hall becomes a celebration of craft soft-serve and regional ice cream with "Aipaku® AKITA 2026."

Built around the concept of a "paradise for ice cream lovers," Aipaku® showcases ice cream from across Japan chosen for its ingredients, craftsmanship, and the stories behind each product. The Japan Ice Mania Association selects more than 100 local ice creams from all 47 prefectures, connecting producers nationwide with the people who love their work.

The lineup features a baked sweet potato and ice cream creation from a Kobe-based sweet potato dessert specialist, craft ice cream from a shop in Yokosuka, and chocolate soft-serve from a pioneer of Japan's raw chocolate scene, alongside many other distinctive offerings. The "Local Ice Cream" corner brings together well-loved regional specialties from around the country. For anyone wanting a palate cleanser between scoops, freshly made fried potatoes are also on offer.

Imozukushi Mitsuimo Soft Cream

Kobe-based sweet potato dessert specialist Kobe Imoya Shinomoto brings its "Chilled Yaki-imo Cream Cheese Ice," made with carefully selected domestic sweet potatoes. The shop's "Imozukushi Mitsuimo Soft Cream," which combines baked sweet potato, potato chips, and kenpi potato snacks in one dish, is also on the menu.
