What Does the Fragrance of "Hyacinth," the Flower that Heralds Spring, Smell Like?
When you feel winter's footsteps in the cold air touching your cheeks, hyacinths bloom as if to announce the arrival of spring. With small petals blooming in clusters along stems that grow straight from bulbs, they present a bouquet-like splendor.
Each small star-shaped flower radiates a fresh, soft sweetness and a dewy, refreshing coolness. Aoyama Flower Market has recreated this light and clear hyacinth fragrance and captured it in a bottle.
Extracting Essence from Domestic Hyacinths
The Hyacinth Eau de Toilette uses luxurious extract from domestically grown hyacinths. By adding galbanum essential oil, characterized by its freshly picked young leaf scent, and intentionally leaving the green notes stronger, the softly spreading fragrance is enhanced.
Gas chromatography analysis1 was performed to detect "which compounds" are present and "in what amounts." Then, the perfumer created numerous accords2, reproducing even the realistic blue notes of the flower that make you exclaim "It's the real thing!" when you first smell it.
