Manga artist Arina Tanemura, known for series such as Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Full Moon o Sagashite, The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross, and Sakura Hime: The Legend of Princess Sakura, is being celebrated with a special retrospective exhibition.
The "Arina Tanemura 30th Anniversary Exhibition: Sparkling Girls' Dream Stories," a look back at 30 years of the artist's career, is currently on display at Animate Ikebukuro 8F "Space Galleria" from April 17 (Friday) to May 18 (Monday), 2026.
The exhibition presents her delicate yet vibrant artwork alongside dramatic characters and stories brought to life across multiple themed areas.
Original Manuscripts and Reproduced Costumes — Inside the Tanemura World
Past the glittering entrance, visitors are greeted by a welcome video tracing Tanemura's 30-year career as a manga artist.

Moving further inside, themed areas dedicated to individual series open up — Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Full Moon o Sagashite, The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross, Sakura Hime: The Legend of Princess Sakura, Cat & Me on Fridays, and more. Beautiful analog original manuscripts from each series can be viewed up close.

The next section is the Costume Area, where transformation outfits and uniforms from the series have been faithfully recreated in detail. The carefully crafted pieces bring back memories of the stories in vivid fashion.

Beyond the costumes, a dedicated area gathers Tanemura's color original artwork. Pages produced using a variety of techniques are displayed, offering a close look at the artist's expressive brushwork.

The exhibition area wraps up with a photo spot, where life-size standees of heroines and heroes drawn exclusively for this exhibition are arranged together. Visitors can take photos alongside the assembled cast of characters.
