2K and Gearbox Software have announced that the free endgame raid "Takedown at Hadron Abyss" and the paid DLC "Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For" are both scheduled to arrive in Borderlands 4 on Thursday, June 25, as part of the Version 1.8 update. The update will also introduce cross-platform save functionality, allowing players to seamlessly transfer their Vault Hunter progress between different platforms where they own Borderlands 4.
Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For
Bounty Pack 3 contains two separately purchasable pieces of content: "Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For," which includes new story content and high-rarity loot, and "Bounty Pack 3: Vault Card 3."
In "A Zane to Kill For," players go undercover inside an arcade game to track down whoever killed Zane's digiclo-backup. The mission is replayable and features one new boss and two mini-bosses.
Vault Card 3 offers arcade game-themed rewards earnable through gameplay, including 24 cosmetic items and 4 re-rollable pieces of gear.
Free Endgame Raid: Takedown at Hadron Abyss
"Takedown at Hadron Abyss" is a free endgame challenge open to all players. Accessible via the Raid Board at the main hub after completing the main story, the raid takes place in an underwater research station called Hadron Abyss, where mutated horrors and powerful aquatic predators await.
At the deepest point of this new area — designed to test player builds and skills — the final boss "テラモルフォスの子" awaits. Enemy difficulty scales automatically to party size, though Mayhem levels and a Hardcore Mode (no going down allowed) are available for those who want a greater challenge.
テラモルフォスの子 and the mini-bosses have dedicated drops that include 1 Pearl-tier weapon, 9 Legendary pieces of gear, and 5 Class MODs. Each Vault Hunter gets their own unique Class MOD, and when the sixth Vault Hunter arrives with Story Pack 2 in Q3 2026, that character's Class MOD will be added to the loot pool as well.
Bounty Pack 4, Story Pack 2, and New Vault Hunter
More content is on the way. On Thursday, July 30, the Version 1.9 update will bring "お尋ね者パック4:血みどろ乗っ取り合戦." Bounty Pack 5 and Story Pack 2 are slated for early September, with Story Pack 2 introducing the sixth playable Vault Hunter, "Loveless the Hacker," who was recently revealed in a DevCast.
A former Anshin hacker turned assassin, Loveless is equipped with top-tier cybernetics and shares her mind with a digital virus she created. The virus can be physically manifested through digital generation and acts according to her will.
Players who own the Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition have access to all content in the Bounty Pack Bundle (Bounty Packs 2, 3, 4, and 5) and the Vault Hunter Pack (Story Packs 1 and 2). The Deluxe Edition includes the Bounty Pack Bundle. Bounty Packs and Story Packs are also available for individual purchase.
