Courtyard by Marriott Okinawa Resort is opening in June 2026 in Kise, Nago City, along the shores of northern Okinawa. The property marks Courtyard's first entry into Okinawa and the brand's tenth hotel in Japan — and its first beachfront resort-style property in the country.

The hotel is situated along the white-sand shores of Kise Beach in Nago City, in northern Okinawa. Overlooking Nago Bay and the surrounding mountains, the setting offers the natural beauty that defines this part of the island.
Nearby highlights include Busena Marine Park Underwater Observatory, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, and Kanehide Kise Country Club. From Naha Airport, the hotel is approximately 60 minutes by the Okinawa Expressway, or around 100 minutes via National Route 58.

Sam Chia oversees Courtyard by Marriott Okinawa Resort as its General Manager. He also holds the General Manager position at The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa, making him the first person within Marriott's Japan portfolio to simultaneously manage both a luxury brand and a select brand property.
Sam has built a career spanning nearly 20 years in luxury hotel operations and sales & marketing at world-renowned brands, including Capella Singapore, St. Regis Singapore, and Capella Hotel Group Asia. During his tenure at St. Regis Bangkok, the property was recognized as "Best Hotel in Southeast Asia" and ranked first in Thailand by Condé Nast Traveler in 2023, placed in the top three in DestinAsian's Thailand best hotels reader poll in 2024, and received a Forbes Travel Guide "VERIFIED™ Responsible Hospitality" certification in 2025.
Sam was appointed General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa in July 2025, and from October 2025 additionally took on oversight of Courtyard by Marriott Okinawa Resort.
