Datsugoku Gokko, the asymmetric multiplayer action game for iOS and Android that has surpassed 11 million cumulative downloads across the series, is kicking off a new project called "Escape Across Japan!" The first installment, themed around Okinawa, brings a major summer event running for two months across July and August 2026.
About the New "Escape Across Japan" Project
This project follows the characters of Datsugoku Gokko as they travel across Japan. Starting with this Okinawa-themed debut, future installments are planned to visit other prefectures around the country, each bringing maps, events, and skins inspired by the local area. Your own hometown could be the next stop on the characters' journey across Japan.
First Installment: Okinawa Event Overview
The event's key feature is that the map's scenery and weather gradually change across three phases over the course of the event. Here's a look at what's coming in the first half of the event, through mid-July; more updates are planned for the second half of July and beyond.
A New Okinawa-Themed Map
The event opens with the "Okinawa Daytime Map," featuring Okinawan beaches, townscapes, and shisa statues. A revived version of a past fan-favorite map is also included, offering players a special experience.
Limited-Time "Hibiscus Collecting" Event
Players can collect hibiscus flowers scattered across the in-game map to earn limited-time items in a special event.
Weather Shifts to a "Squall" (Rain) in Mid-July
Starting in mid-July, the map's weather will change, transforming it into the "Okinawa Squall Map." A new in-game event tied to this weather shift is also planned.
New Skins and Characters
Special tropical-themed skins are arriving throughout the event.
Swimsuit Skins in the "無双ガチャ オキナワ" Gacha
Special swimsuit skins for popular characters are being added throughout the event. As the first release, ahead of the main event, the "常夏の刀華 アリシア" and "ヤシの木 ウッドモック" skins have been available since June 25.
