Evangelion Unit-01 Statue Unveiled at Yamaguchi Ube Airport Ahead of "Machijuu Evangelion 2026"

A statue of Evangelion Unit-01 has gone on public display at Yamaguchi Ube Airport's domestic terminal building, which is marking the 60th anniversary of its opening, ahead of the launch of "Machijuu Evangelion 2026."

The statue previously greeted many fans at "EVANGELION:30+; 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION," an event held in Yokohama this past February to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Neon Genesis Evangelion series. With the cooperation of Yamaguchi Ube Airport Building Co., Ltd., it has now made a return appearance at the airport.

Ahead of the main event's opening on October 29, the statue gives travelers and fans an early chance to experience the presence of Unit-01 up close.

At "EVANGELION:30+; 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION," Ube City in Yamaguchi Prefecture and Hamamatsu City in Shizuoka Prefecture — both known as model locations for the series — formed an official partnership and jointly exhibited a booth, crossing municipal boundaries.

This marks a return appearance for the statue, which previously drew crowds when displayed at the same airport during the second and third rounds of "Machijuu Evangelion," from July 2022 to January 2024.
