Ahead of the exhibition's public opening, voice actors Romi Park (Edward Elric in the TV anime Fullmetal Alchemist) and Yume Miyamoto (Asa in the TV anime Daemons of the Shadow Realm) toured the venue and shared their thoughts on the exhibits and the show's appeal.
The exhibition is themed around two of Hiromu Arakawa's celebrated manga, Fullmetal Alchemist and Daemons of the Shadow Realm. Park, who voices Edward Elric, spoke about the Fullmetal Alchemist displays, while Miyamoto, who voices Asa, spoke about the Daemons of the Shadow Realm displays.

Q. Let's start with the Fullmetal Alchemist exhibits. What were your impressions after touring the venue ahead of the opening?
Park: At the previous Fullmetal Alchemist exhibition, I was overwhelmed by Hiromu Arakawa's world from the moment I stepped in, like diving straight into it — and this time was the same: the moment I walked in, I felt like the exhibition was reaching in and stirring up both pain and joy at once. In the Daemons of the Shadow Realm section, having the Migi and Hidari guardian figures right at the entrance pulled me straight into that world, and toward the end there was even a display where the two worlds seemed to cross over — it was very moving.
Q. Is there anything you'd especially like Fullmetal Alchemist fans to see?
Park: I'd recommend Arakawa-sensei's Q&A. I could feel her love in every single answer, so I really want people to see it. Her words to Ed and Al left me feeling warm and a little teary!
Q. As the voice of the lead character, Edward Elric, is there anything you always keep in mind?
Park: Ed is a character who's completely without lies, so I strip away every "lie" in myself before taking on the role. For this exhibition's commercial, too, I recorded it over and over.
Q. The venue displays many memorable scenes featuring Edward Elric. Is there a scene you especially love, or one that has stayed with you?
Park: Honestly, it's all iconic lines, but the phrase "equivalent exchange" is one I find myself thinking about again and again in my own life.
Q. There was also a confession scene near the end of the Fullmetal Alchemist area, wasn't there?
Park: That's right — please come hear it for yourself at the exhibition!
Q. The exhibition's merchandise corner is one of its highlights, with original goods on offer. Is there anything that's caught your eye?
Park: I want to buy every single item... but seeing it in person, the one I absolutely had to have was the metallic clear file. The metallic finish and the Gate of Truth scene on it look so cool — I hope everyone picks one up.

Q. Now, the same question for the Daemons of the Shadow Realm exhibits — what were your impressions after touring the venue ahead of the opening?
Miyamoto: What made me happiest was seeing four characters lined up together — from a series all my classmates used to watch, and from the series I'm currently working on as a voice actor. It's wonderful to be able to see the original art in an era like this, and since the Daemons of the Shadow Realm anime is currently airing, I think viewers watching the show right now will enjoy spotting scenes and thinking, "I saw this in the anime!"
Q. Is there anything you'd especially like Daemons of the Shadow Realm fans to see?
Miyamoto: There's a lot, but I'd seen many people taking photos with the large Gabriel figure at AnimeJapan back in March, so I'm happy this exhibition lets it be shown outside of Tokyo too. I know its teeth pack quite a bite, but they're so beautifully lined up that I almost want to be bitten! I hope everyone takes a photo with it too.
Q. As the voice of the lead character, Asa, is there anything you always keep in mind?
Miyamoto: The Daemons of the Shadow Realm recording sessions have a warm, friendly atmosphere, but Asa carries the mission of searching for her parents, so when it's time to record, I try to live as Asa under the weight of that mission, pushing back against the easygoing mood on set.
Q. The venue displays many memorable scenes featuring Asa. Is there a scene you especially love, or one that has stayed with you?
Miyamoto: I love the scene from Episode 17, which aired recently, where it's really clear how much Gabu-chan cares about Asa — and seeing the original art this time made me feel all over again that Gabu-chan must have felt this way about her from the very start. There's also a display about how much Asa loves her older brother, so I'd love for people to see and hear that part for themselves and enjoy it.
Q. The exhibition's merchandise corner is one of its highlights, with original goods on offer. Is there anything that's caught your eye?
Miyamoto: The Fullmetal Alchemist × Daemons of the Shadow Realm Official Exhibition Book. The cover uses an illustration Arakawa-sensei drew especially for this exhibition, and I love how each character's expression conveys their own will — the inside pages are a really satisfying read too, so I highly recommend it!
Impressions of Each Other's Series, Favorite Characters, and Messages to Fans
Q. As mentioned earlier, this exhibition is themed around two works, Fullmetal Alchemist and Daemons of the Shadow Realm. We'd like to ask you both for your impressions after seeing the exhibits for the other's series.
Park: In the reference materials corner, there are the actual komainu guardian-dog statues that Migi and Hidari were modeled on. There's also a corner showing a family gathered together — keep an eye on the TV footage there. I really enjoyed how the display drew me into the Daemons of the Shadow Realm world.
Miyamoto: I was overwhelmed by the power that comes through in every single piece of original art from Arakawa-sensei. It's a rare chance to see, all at once, Ed's expressions as he grows into a cool adult, so I'd love for people to see the original pages in person.
Q. What's your favorite character from the other's series?
Park: There's a character I love so much I've dreamed about them — I'm a huge fan of the wonderfully domineering "S-chan."
Miyamoto: I really love the relationship between Ed and Al.
Q. Please share a message for the fans.
Park: The moment you step in, you're guaranteed to be pulled into Hiromu Arakawa's world. You can really feel, deeply, that both Fullmetal Alchemist and Daemons of the Shadow Realm were created by Arakawa-sensei's own hand. I hope as many people as possible come to see it — I think there's a warmth and energy that only comes through because it was hand-drawn, so please come feel it for yourself at the exhibition.
Miyamoto: I've been really looking forward to this ever since I heard the Fullmetal Alchemist × Daemons of the Shadow Realm Exhibition was happening. It's an exhibition where you can feel so much love from so many people, so I think even those who haven't read Daemons of the Shadow Realm yet will enjoy it. The Daemons of the Shadow Realm anime is airing right now too, so after enjoying the exhibition, I'd love for people to enjoy the anime as well.

The exhibition features a wide range of displays that let visitors fully experience the appeal of both Fullmetal Alchemist and Daemons of the Shadow Realm, as drawn by Hiromu Arakawa. Highlights include more than 300 pieces of original art, rough sketches, and other valuable production materials by Arakawa. The Fullmetal Alchemist section brings the Gate of Truth to the venue, while the Daemons of the Shadow Realm section is packed with three-dimensional displays, including an area where visitors can enjoy tsugai introductions via the "Enma Ledger" (a blacklist). About Fullmetal Alchemist
Serialization began in the August 2001 issue of Monthly Shōnen Gangan (Square Enix) and continued through the July 2010 issue. Two brothers, Edward and Alphonse, attempted the forbidden act of human transmutation. About Daemons of the Shadow Realm
Yuru, a boy living in a small mountain village, quietly hunts wild birds and lives close to nature. But his twin sister, Asa, is said to be carrying out an "obligation" inside a cell deep within the village, for reasons unknown — almost as if she were being held prisoner. Amid this peaceful village, an unnatural mystery lingers: what secret could this village possibly be hiding?
