About Dragon Quest
The Dragon Quest series is one of Japan's leading role-playing games (RPGs), in which players themselves become the hero, unraveling a grand adventure story to defeat a demon lord that threatens the world.
From the original Dragon Quest, released for the Family Computer in 1986, through Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, released in 2017, the series has kept to its classic RPG worldview while also embracing technology suited to each era — including 3D maps, a wireless local-communication feature for exchanging data with other players, online play, and cloud gaming support — to create new ways to play with each title.
Beyond the numbered entries I through XI, the franchise includes the Dragon Quest Monsters series, which focuses on raising and battling monsters, and the Dragon Quest Heroes series, an action RPG featuring realistic character control, among more than 100 titles released in total. Worldwide, the series has achieved combined shipments and downloads of over 97 million units.
