Glampdome Shimonoseki (GLAMPDOME SHIMONOSEKI), a 10-dome glamping resort overlooking the Kanmon Strait in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, is set to renovate its largest suite. The Double Ocean Suite — which accommodates up to 10 guests and claims the distinction of being the first large-scale double-dome of its kind in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions — will be upgraded with a private infinity pool.
The renovation is scheduled for completion in June 2026.

About Glampdome Shimonoseki
Shimonoseki is a city in Yamaguchi Prefecture surrounded by sea on three sides, known for its scenic coastline and home to the popular Karato Market — the most-visited tourist spot in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Glampdome Shimonoseki's 10 dome tents sit right on the waterfront in this setting, offering panoramic ocean views, a glamping BBQ experience, and a variety of outdoor activities.

Double Ocean Suite Renovation: Private Infinity Pool
The Double Ocean Suite is the resort's closest unit to the Kanmon Strait, and it is being renovated to include a private infinity pool. The suite sleeps up to 10 guests and features 8 single beds. With the pool addition, guests can take in the expansive, ever-changing seascape from the water's edge in their own private space.

Special Renovation Plan
To mark the renovation, a limited plan is available for stays in pool-equipped rooms, capped at 2 groups per day. The pools are open from June through October, so the plan is seasonal. It is well suited to group and family trips.

Rooms with Pools:
I. Double Ocean Suite (Renovated)
II. Pool Ocean Suite
In addition to the newly renovated Double Ocean Suite, the Pool Ocean Suite is also available. Its pool is not an infinity pool, but it is a popular pick for groups and families.
New Amenities for Select Room Types
Two additional room types are receiving new features to further enhance the guest experience.

Ocean Suite (with Private Sauna)
This room features a private sauna with unobstructed views of the Kanmon Strait. A seasonal pool will be installed from June through late October.
Note: Pool availability may be affected by weather conditions or water temperature, even during the open season.

Family Dome (with Outdoor Living Area)
A family-friendly room with an outdoor garden space. An athletic-style pool designed for children will be set up in the garden.
Note: In the event of bad weather (rain or strong winds), indoor play equipment will be provided instead.
Highlights of Glampdome Shimonoseki
Spectacular Views of the Kanmon Strait
With the sea on three sides and a green natural setting, the resort offers front-row views of the Kanmon Strait. Guests can watch large vessels pass directly in front of the dome tents as they relax.

10 Domes, 8 Room Types
Eight different room types line the waterfront, including domes with private pools and dog-run-equipped units for guests traveling with pets.

Private Barrel Sauna
Three room types — the Double Ocean Suite, Ocean Suite, and Pool Ocean Suite — each have a private barrel sauna with views of the sea and Kanmon Strait. Reclining chairs and cold-water baths are provided, making it a full sauna experience.

BBQ with Locally Sourced Seafood
The resort's glamping BBQ menu centers on fresh local seafood and other ingredients sourced directly from the Shimonoseki area, including produce from Karato Market. Guests are also welcome to bring their own ingredients.

All-Weather Dining Space
A covered dining area is available for guests regardless of the weather, making the resort accessible to outdoor beginners, families with children, and those visiting in less-than-ideal conditions.

Ocean View Bath
Five units — the Double Ocean Suite, Ocean Suite, Ocean Dome (Aqua), Ocean Dome (Botanical), and Pool Ocean Suite — feature bathrooms where guests can soak while looking out over the sea.
