Kanhizakura (寒緋桜)

Gofun Nail in Kanhizakura (寒緋桜)

A Sweet, Deep Flower Color Like Waking From Sleep

A popular seasonal limited color returns.

Kanhizakura takes its name from the way the flower blooms while the weather is still cold. The slightly muted reddish purple carries the brilliance that announces the arrival of spring.

Tsuyuichii (露一位)

Gofun Nail in Tsuyuichii (露一位)

A Mellow Tree-Bark Color Glistening With Morning Dew

Tsuyuichii is a pale, reddish brown named after textiles dyed with the ichii (yew) tree.

This pink-brown blends well with the skin, and the more coats are applied, the calmer the impression becomes. Delicate glitter like morning dew gives the hands an elegant, soft sheen.

About Gofun Nail

Gofun Nail bottles displayed next to Japanese-style painting pigments

Gofun (胡粉) is an important white pigment in nihonga, made from finely powdered scallop shells. Gofun Nail is a nail polish that incorporates this natural material. It was conceived out of a desire to add color to nails the way one paints a picture. Aiming to be kind to people and to the planet, it is made in Kyoto, a place that sends out craftsmanship to the world.

Five Features of Gofun Nail

1. Traditional colors handed down at Japan's oldest pigment shop

The lineup offers Japanese hues that only a pigment shop whose colors have been passed down for about 270 years can express.

2. No harsh odor, stress-free

Because the main solvent is water, Gofun Nail has none of the sharp smell typical of nail polish. It can be removed with alcohol instead of nail polish remover, and it is also used by pregnant women and people undergoing treatment for illness who cannot use conventional nail polish. More parents and children enjoying it together, and more older users, are choosing it as a favorite.

3. Quick-drying and breathable

It dries in about 1 to 2 minutes after application (this varies from person to person). It also feels light on the nails, without the heavy sensation that nail polish often brings.

4. Packaging passed down along with the traditional colors

The Gofun Nail packaging uses a logo mark devised in the Meiji and Taisho eras by Shotaro Ueba (上羽庄太郎), the sixth head of Uebaeso.

5. Winner of a Good Design Award

Gofun Nail won the Good Design Award in 2015, which recognizes design that makes daily life and society better.
