HASAMI PORCELAIN, the tableware brand from Tokyo Saikai Co., Ltd., is adding a new piece to its lineup: the Round Glass Cup arrives on Friday, August 21, 2026, priced at ¥1,650 (tax included). It will be sold at three physical stores in Japan as well as through one online shop.
A Nagasaki-Rooted Tableware Brand

Hasami, a town in Nagasaki Prefecture, has been a center of porcelain-making since the Edo period roughly 400 years ago, shipping tableware across Japan and, via the port of Nagasaki, to Europe. Early on, the region built up a system for producing everyday tableware at reliable quality and price, and that tradition continues today.
Carrying on Hasami-yaki's techniques, HASAMI PORCELAIN was launched in the United States in 2011 under the direction of Los Angeles-based Takuhiro Shinomoto, and sales began in Japan in 2013. The brand is defined by clean lines, an organic texture, and multi-functional design, stripped of unnecessary decoration so that form follows function and manufacturing needs. Every item shares the same diameter, allowing pieces to be stacked together.
Made mainly from Amakusa pottery stone mixed with clay, HASAMI PORCELAIN's "half-porcelain" mugs, plates, bowls, and teapots are now used in roughly 50 stores across North America, 70 in Europe, and 100 across Asia and Oceania. In 2016, Apple selected HASAMI PORCELAIN for an original mug, drawing further attention to the brand both in Japan and abroad.
Round Glass Cup: A Glass Companion to the Ceramic Line

Developed together with Toyo Sasaki Glass Co., Ltd., the Round Glass Cup carries HASAMI PORCELAIN's signature look over into glass. It shares the same diameter as the brand's existing items, so it can be stacked alongside them. A rounded base makes the cup comfortable to hold, and its solid, substantial thickness suits both everyday tables and professional use in restaurants and cafés.
The cup comes in three colors:

Clear

Gray

Amber

From Brand Director Takuhiro Shinomoto
"I had been thinking for a long time about creating a piece for cold drinks that would fit HASAMI PORCELAIN's table settings. Adding a glass item widens what the tableware can be used for and brings a visual accent to the table. It's made by Toyo Sasaki Glass — simple, substantial, and easy to use every day.
"It pairs really well with the ceramic HASAMI PORCELAIN pieces. You can stack them together, and where the glass shows through against the ceramic colors, that layered look is beautiful. Thinking about how it would sit alongside our existing Natural, Black, and Gloss Gray colors, as well as our wooden trays, we settled on three colors: Clear, Gray, and Amber.
"The rounded base makes the cup, despite its larger size, sit comfortably in the hand. It's a piece I'd recommend whenever you want to enjoy a generous pour of your drink."
