Hitachi Seaside Park will showcase its beloved winter tradition as "Ice Tulips" reach peak bloom on January 6, 2026. These specially treated tulips bloom during the cold season, transforming the park into a vibrant winter wonderland. The park features ice tulips at two distinct locations, each offering unique landscape concepts. Due to the cold season, the flowers open gradually, allowing visitors to enjoy their vivid colors against the crisp winter air for an extended period. The blooming season is expected to continue through approximately January 25.
What Are Ice Tulips?

Ice tulips are created by applying cold temperature treatment to bulbs for a specific period, enabling them to bloom during winter. Tulips naturally flower in spring after experiencing winter cold, but by pre-exposing the bulbs to cold conditions, they can be tricked into thinking spring has arrived, allowing winter blooming. This cold treatment process enables flowering earlier than usual, which is the defining characteristic of ice tulips.
