Shaved Ice Now Delivered to Campfires at a Mountain Campsite Near Osaka

Asatoretamago BASE, a campsite on the border of Nara and Osaka, is starting a new plan on August 17, 2026: delivering shaved ice straight to campers' sites.

Fluffy, delicate shaved ice enjoyed right by the campfire — a chance to feel the fire's warmth and the treat's cool, gentle melt at the same time, in a camping experience that is hard to find elsewhere. Guests can take in the mountain view while enjoying a little extra lift in their mood.

The campsite sits at an elevation of about 390 m on Mt. Ikoma. Guests pitch a tent (hand-free camping is also available) and enjoy BBQ and a campfire, and can have shaved ice delivered to the site whenever they like — no need to go and buy it, since staff bring it straight to camp.

Campfire and Fluffy Shaved Ice: A Curious Pairing for the Mountains

Enjoying cold shaved ice while gathered around a campfire — this slightly unexpected combination is easy to enjoy with the new plan.

Guests can chat with friends over a bowl, or snap photos with the scenery in the background. Feeling the fire's warmth and a fluffy, melting coolness at the same time is something only camping can offer.

Guests cannot choose which flavor of shaved ice is delivered. Those who want to try more flavors can head to the on-site Egg Cafe, which offers three flavors of fluffy "fuwatoro" shaved ice.

Before and After Camping: Mountain Play at KURAGARI Village

Asatoretamago BASE sits inside KURAGARI Village, which has plenty to enjoy alongside a night of camping.

At the Egg Cafe, guests can look out over the mountains while enjoying fluffy omurice and tamago kake gohan (rice topped with a raw egg) made with fresh eggs from chickens raised on-site, along with seasonal sweets and drinks.

After eating, guests can cool off by dipping their feet in the stream, get moving on the athletic course, or spend time with the resident animals — goats, a miniature horse, chickens, and ducks. Guests traveling with a dog can also use the dog run.

A mountain cafe, stream play, an athletic course, animals, a dog run, and camping — guests can mix and match based on the day's mood, making it possible to enjoy a full day in the mountains rather than just an overnight stay.

About 30 Minutes from Osaka: A Day in the Mountains at 390 Meters

The campsite is about a 30-minute drive from central Osaka, making it an easy trip to reach an elevation of roughly 390 m on Mt. Ikoma.

A typical day might start with lunch at the Egg Cafe before check-in, followed by time at the stream or the athletic course, then heading to the campsite. In the evening, guests enjoy BBQ and a campfire, and can settle in at their site once the shaved ice arrives.

This is a distinctly KURAGARI Village way to camp — comfortable whether you want a full day immersed in nature or just a bit of casual outdoor fun.
