A special pop-up store dedicated to Licca-chan, the beloved Japanese fashion doll, will open at Kochi Tsutaya Bookstore from October 22 (Wednesday) to November 10 (Monday), 2025. The event brings together nostalgic charm and modern design, celebrating over 57 years of Licca-chan's history.
Since her debut in 1967, Licca-chan has embodied dreams and aspirations while reflecting each era's fashion trends. Originally designed for children's dress-up and role-play activities, she has grown to become a cultural icon cherished by adults who grew up alongside her.
This marks Licca-chan's first pop-up shop specifically targeted at adult fans. Titled "Licca-chan POP-UP STORE Retro Party," the event features merchandise inspired by "Retro Licca," a reproduction of the original 1967 doll.
The venue, Kochi Tsutaya Bookstore, offers a welcoming atmosphere where visitors can enjoy books, coffee, and a market-like ambiance, creating the perfect setting for this nostalgic celebration.
Event Highlights
The pop-up store showcases merchandise featuring the "Retro Licca" doll design, along with original illustrations by Jun Suzuki (@tofuboyrecords), an illustrator known for work that bridges analog-era manga, anime aesthetics with contemporary style.
Beyond merchandise sales, the event includes:

- Collaboration items featuring popular characters and brands
- Photo spots where visitors can pose inside a life-sized first-generation Licca-chan package
Note: Limited edition dolls exclusive to this event will not be available for purchase.

Visitors can step into a replica of the original Licca-chan package for memorable photos. The installation faithfully recreates the iconic packaging that made Licca-chan a household name.
For guests who bring their own Licca-chan dolls, a miniature version of the pop-up store is available, allowing collectors to photograph their dolls in a scaled-down replica of the exhibition space.
